Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

Re: Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

if St. Patty's Day falls on a Friday, a dispensation, dating back to either Pius XI or XII, does exist.
Hmm...I was told (when serving corned beef to a priest on a Friday St. Patrick's Day) that the local bishop granted the dispensation....maybe the Pius gave the bishops authority to do so?

What we have here is pretty much a historical reenactment as to how Pope Benedict XVI became the pope.

You're Catholic yet live in St. Paul? How does something like that happen?

And Irish. Strange twist of fate, I guess and why I guess why I understand the street "system". :D

Okay, the Conclave starts on Tuesday. When do we have a new pope?

My uninformed guess is Friday afternoon, Sunday at the latest. If I'm reading properly, there will be no voting on Saturday, if we get that far.

Still shocked no comedian has done a "Mel Kiper breaks down the Conclave" skit.

The conclave starts on Tuesday. If there's no new pope by the end of Tuesday the Cardinals play a doubleheader on Wednesday.

I hope the Cardinals make the gutsy call and pick Larry Fitzgerald, but they'll probably play it safe and we'll be left with Pope Kurt I.

I'm split on whether they'll feel that "recent problems demand an historic new beginning" (a la Cardinal Turkson) or "with all this upheaval including the resignation we need extra tradition" (a la any Italian).

Cardinal Turkson came to our church a few years ago. I didn't know anything about him, only that a Cardinal would be there to celebrate that week's Mass. He was as knowledgeable, likeable, and impressive as anyone I've ever heard or seen speak.

On a more prosaic note:

I only knew of the original and the Black Bush. Didn't know about this, thanks! Just in time for the holidays, as it were. :)
