Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

Re: Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

Will a new Pope be named before Jack Parker is officially retired? The race is on.

Re: Sede Vacate - the Interregnum and the 85th Conclave of the Roman Catholic Church

This morning's scrutinies did not achieve a positive result.

Papa Ratzinger was elected on the 4th or 5th ballot (this afternoon). I would be very surprised if that happens this time.

I'm thinking nothing comes today, but I think the first afternoon session will bring a pope.

Maybe I've seen Angels and Demons too many times, but I just see them signing their own names to be d*cks about it for the first few rounds of voting.

I think this is going to drag on for a week. Until they can decide just which direction they, err God, wants them to take the Catholic Church.

I have a hunch they go hardline old school.

The first vote can contain a younger cardinal paying tribute to a mentor. This happened a bit in the old days when the 80+ year old cardinals were allowed in Conclave. Nowadays, not many, but they Cardinal Kaspar, who just turned 80 (after 2/28), may have gotten a few yesterday. This AM was the first serious voting. But, I don't think there was a consensus candidate like there was in Conclave 84 with Cardinal Ratzinger. Maybe Friday???

White smoke and listening to them say the same thing over and over for the last 20 minutes. WOuldn't want to be a newscaster now. Nothing new to say that hasn't been said for the last weeks.

BBC live feed has just the crowd, so you just get to hear people cheer without talking heads.
