Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Well, looks like we get UAF. The Seawolves started a fight after the final whistle, and there were definitely some good punches being thrown, but it didn't look like any DQs would be warranted for Nanook guys, mostly Seawolves instigating.

Congratulations to you guys. You have a better overall record, and you took care of business this weekend while we didn't, so you earned the #1 seed. I hope we get a shot at you in the championship game.

Yes that #21 for Anchorage is a whiny goon and should have gotten a DQ Friday night too from the clip I saw. What an asshat pummeling that guy when he was down after the final buzzer. Sore loser for sure.

Got my trip booked - making the loooong trek back to Houghton to see my first playoff games at the JMSIA since 1993. Hopefully get to see the Cup skated as well since it hasn't happened since I was... 2. Tech should have some good film on UAF now and hopefully we can see Tech get out to another quick lead, and then keep their foot on the gas all weekend.
Go Tech!

Took one look at the price of a last-minute flight, but I can't swing it. Plus, the logistics are not good for me, having to be back on Sunday to jump on another plane for a business trip to Connecticut.

Yeah, I'm really hoping for a sweep because I fly out of MSP Monday morning at 7am. A Sunday game in Houghton would make for a long day.

I'm hoping they get a seed opposite St Cloud for the Midwest regional. Is there a online what-if calculator for the NCAA seedings?

We're hoping to have a what-if calculator on THG in the next day or two. I'll keep you guys here posted. Still working on the interface and getting the conference championship weekend to properly populate based on this weekend's results.

IF they qualify...

No reason they can't unless they're looking past their opponents and not playing the game at hand.

UAF has Morley back and will be looking for revenge from two weeks ago. No reason we can't beat them, but it's tough beating any team 6 straight games in a season. We'll need the sweep to hold the PWR.

The McNaughton will be here for this weekend's games. You will be able to have your picture taken with it. Bring your phones or camera to the game, according to what I heard on Mel Pearson show.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

A few of my notes from the Mel Pearson show.

Mel P show takeaways:
Excruciating bus ride watching the BSU/MSU score
Long overdue
Petan - scoring title, team success result in individual success
Knew he had a chance at scoring champ -that's why he was out there at end of game

We're top 10 in the country on the PP

Jake Jackson is one of the guys that is next on the bench - really wanted to get him in a game this weekend, Olympic ice, but after strong Friday, hard to take someone out
Jake knows he's big part of the future going forward, perhaps this weekend if it goes 3 games
Everyone that hasn't been in the lineup is ready to go

Mel hasn't heard from commissioner at all - weird, commish was at Mankato, thought an acknowledgment would've happened by now
Suzanne has been in touch with Mankato - plan is for cup to be on display Friday/Saturday night
It's great - had some players three weeks ago do some homework on the cup - told team we had a chance
It's good for players to know the history of this cup, we are the trustee
To Mel it's great to win first place, but the history make it so unique and special
Plan is for photo ops for fans both Friday and Saturday - hope commissioner okay with that

UAF:
Tyler Morley - is back
They've won a few games in a row, we'll have our hands full

Questions for Mel:
As home coach, with last change. Will you do much match against UAF/Morley.
They've got good players, Mel's not a big matcher.
All our lines are playing well and can play well defensively.

Does dark jersey at home continue in playoffs?
No idea - they said whole second half so think so.

Our guys are on a mission, they want to get back to the big dance. This is another step.
PK will help us, we need to make a few adjustments. PP needs to be better against UAF. Faceoffs too.

If you like what's been going on and where this program is going , send an email to Mroz and Suzanne Sanregret, they've done a great job of providing Mel and his staff with tools to get where we are. They deserve credit.
They are two key people that make this program what it is.

We've had ongoing discussions with Notre Dame, we want to play them, they want to play us, need to find date and where to play
Want to play good teams that push you to your limit and play the right way

Tickets are available - more than usual with students out of town
Encourage fans to cheer on this team one last time

The commissioner can EAD as far as I'm concerned, don't really give a crap what he is ok with, it's our cup and we'll do whatever the hell we want to do with it.
