Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Guys... we are playing the Nanook version of Alaska, not the Seawolf version. Pony false alarm. :D

I thought UAA athletics was cancelled last week and UA_ had assumed all pony thread duties and responsibilities.
My bad,

Not game worn, so it's not my cup of tea, but if someone wants a unique jersey of the Wildcat killer, Colin Murphy, here you go.

When it hits DVD (probably a straight to DVD movie), I'll most likely buy it, unless it's a complete train wreck. I've bought "worse" for more money.

Albom has made it clear that this isn't going to be a rush job, and they may get a legit actor on board, so I would say it's somewhat likely this thing actually gets a limited release on a few screens, in places where it makes sense (NHL markets).

But we're a long way from that discussion yet.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

heck I'd buy it no matter who's in it. all though it did sound a bit like it might be a docudrama.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

On the idea of rooting for Michigan, I did an analysis of MTU and MTU's opponents schedules to see who MTU would prefer win a game. This is what I came up with, if every game the rest of the year was determined by who was higher on the below list, except for who wins the WCHA tournament (MTU losing in the final), MTU would finish 10th in the PWR so it must be pretty close to what MTU would prefer happen.

1 Michigan Tech
2 Lake Superior
3 Northern Michigan
4 Ferris State
5 Alaska
6 Bowling Green
7 Alaska-Anchorage
8 Alabama-Huntsville
9 Bemidji State
10 Minnesota State
11 Michigan State
12 Wisconsin
13 Michigan
14 Minnesota
15 Ohio State
16 Connecticut
17 Arizona State
18 Penn State
19 North Dakota
20 Western Michigan
21 St. Cloud State
22 Yale
23 Minnesota-Duluth
24 Clarkson
25 Rensselaer
26 New Hampshire
27 Miami
28 Brown
29 American Int'l
30 Harvard
31 Denver
32 Vermont
33 Boston University
34 Boston College
34 Northeastern
34 Maine
37 Colorado College
38 Dartmouth
38 Massachusetts
40 Canisius
40 RIT
42 Princeton
43 Nebraska-Omaha
44 Quinnipiac
44 Union
46 Providence
47 St. Lawrence
47 Cornell
47 Colgate
50 Notre Dame
50 Robert Morris
50 Mass.-Lowell
50 Merrimack

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

To me it's more of who loses rather than who wins.
So my teams who it's important lose.
Cornell, Minnesota, Penn State, Lowell. This is going to go into the playoffs if you ask me.

My ranking is about improving MTU's RPI, a positive result by a higher ranked team on my list over a lower ranked team increases MTU's RPI without them playing at all...obviously at some point we're going to want Minnesota/Penn State to lose because them winning helps them more than MTU. Lowell and Cornell are very low on the list.

Yep... And add in Miami, RPI, and St. Lawrence.

It will definitely go into the playoffs, and we need to go deep if we don't win it all (and hope Mich wins the BI6 tourney).

Ok well I'll take it on faith.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Well here's the thing.
It doesn't take into account how teams are playing.... this week. Example. Harvard has not been playing all that well of late. The defense has been exposed. They have been getting some wins but overall not a top 10 team. So this week they are going up to the north country to play Clarkson and St Lawrence. On paper they would win both, but don't count on it.( I'm betting St Lawrence beats them.) I think their best result is going to be a split on the weekend.
Same for a number of other match ups.... Cornell is at home vs Union. On paper Cornell wins, but I think it's a toss up. Same for the RPI game, a toss up. So it looks like to me Cornell splits as well. Though that still leaves them in front of us.

anyway my two cents.

MI Tech is unveiling a new logo today, does this have anything to do with athletics or is just the corporate side?

Michigan Tech to Reveal New Logo, Rebranding Campaign Today

by UMC

After more than 130 years, Michigan Technological University will roll out its first cohesive, university-wide brand today. The new brand will include a new logo, to be revealed for the first time at a brief ceremony at 1:30 p.m. today (February 26), in the Opie Reading Room of the Van Pelt and Opie Library.

President Glenn Mroz will talk about the history of the branding campaign, the reasons for it and what it means for Michigan Tech. Then the new logo will be unveiled.

If you'd like to watch the event online, we'll be live streaming it. Find the link at mtu.edu/future.
