SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

Re: SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

Excuse me but are you a moron?

Followed by:

But when the hit happened in the game, i.e the live game action, BTN edited that part of the game out.

And I'm the moron.

Let me say this really slowly so you understand.

On the replay, they edited out a 3 minute chunk of the game where the actual hit happens.

Okay, so you didn't watch the game live? At least that makes sense. I didn't watch it either live or delayed (on TV). The only replay I watched was the one on Goon's site, and that replay showed the hit in "live" action and several replays.

If those 2 clowns are the standard for the "big" ten, then it will truly be a bush league. Unbelievable. They apparently don't know much about college hockey, even though they had all kinds of ideas on what the rules should be. It was almost like listening to a couple of sixth graders calling the game. Strictly retarded.

I did watch it live. I was told by someone else that they edited out the 3 minutes of gametime where the hit happened. No one is arguing with you that the replay of the hit was never shown.

Re: SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

Perplexed doesn't begin to accurately describe an objective impression left by the overall game statements made by that BTN commentator. I remember telling Frank Mazzoco and Doug Woog, separately face-to-face at Tom Reid's pub in St. Paul, how lame their homer coverage was in regards to goofer games. But this Andriga (sp?) guy took it to a whole new level last night.

Better descriptions would be "repulsive" or "embarrassingly painful."

These are two completely different items.

1. All home team broadcasters are bias. Watch any Twins, Vikings (radio) or Wild broadcast and the home town announcers are homers. Nothing wrong with that. It's expected. If I listened to an opponents broadcast, I expect them to be bias. To tell Woog and Mazzoco, who are paid by FNS to call Gopher hockey games, "how lame their homer coverage is" is just plain childish and embarassing.

2. The SCSU vs WI game last night was on the BTN and that's what makes Andringa's comments way off base and unprofessional. The BTN is not the same as FSN.

Yeah, I get it now. I was just stirring the pot anyway. :D

If they did edit it they should be ripped for it.

When did St. Cloud join the B1G? Wouldn't the BTN be naturally biased toward the teams that make money from it?

Why do uninformed idiots keep calling the BTN TV crew Badger announcers?

Yes Andringa played for UW but Kelly has absolutely nothing to do with the UW...never has. Locally, Andringa says he TRIES to stay impartial, but.......

I certainly never called them Badger announcers...but the were so pro-Badger that it could have fooled anyone. I hope your regular guys aren't as mind-numbingly stupid as Dan and Rob were last night.

Badgers are a B1G team, St. Cloud is not.
And the bias toward the B1G team was very evident.

Kirk Herbstreit does a great job when covering Ohio State games. Bobby Knight does a great job when covering Indiana games. Bob Griese did a great job when covering games his son played in. The list goes on and on. Andringa's comments on a local Badger broadcast are fine, but not on a national game on a national network. He needs to understand there is a huge difference.

...but he fails miserably at it. Makes the Gopher FSN crew seem like impartial observers by comparison.

Re: SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

I don't think Andringa is any worse than Frank and Woog and I didn't mind those guys too much.

Re: Kelly, I do get the impression that UW's history informs his play by play. last night it was as if he hadn't seen UW all season and he expected them to be the big bad UW of years past. so yeah, he was biased toward UW I feel in that he seemed to expect the opposite outcome and continued to talk about the "talent" on UW

weird statements when you see a team getting jack-hammered at home

Well, Woogie and Gorg can homer with the best of them. Not to mention Lapanta, who is a super homer, and doesn't get hockey. But ya, the B1G crew were so bad I watched RIP play some other place i couldn't find on a map.

Re: SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

I ran out of paint thinner reading this thread. The hits happend. The B1G network sucks. It's over. Move on. Wisconsin played cheap at times and Eaves does what he does best...whine, whine, whine.

Did I sum that up correctly?

Re: SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

So Oliver is officially unable to play tonight because of Ramage's cheap shot, and Eddy is a game time decision. Both teams have next week off.

Here's hoping that the entire St. Cloud team that can get onto the ice plays like Cal Clutterbuck for 60 minutes tonight.

Re: SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

I'm going to get jumped all over for this question, but I legitimately don't know and watched the game at a bar, so had no sound.

Why did the SCSU player who went after Ramage after the hit not get more of a penalty? He went after Ramage's head and had his stick at head level (I'm not positive whether he made contact with the stick, though it looked like he had it at Ramage's neck/face area). In my limited experience, retaliation usually gets you in trouble and with the head contact in play, I expected him to get a 5 or tossed as well.

In fact, we were a little surprised that there weren't more fighting penalties from the scrum that followed? The ref was skating around writing down numbers, but in the end, there were no penalties for the ensuing all-ice melee.

Lapanta is a Sioux fan

Andringa has moments when he's not bad, then others when absolutely unbearable. Dan Kelly is just overzealous when he covers ANY game for ANY team. As fas as Woog, he doesn't cover games anymore, Gorg is super mild when comparing to Andringa.

Btw, did anyone liesten to Gorg and Kelly call the Gopher-Husky game? Hard to know who the homer was, Kelly sounded like the bigger homer compared to Gorg.

I think they're doing their best, Andringa just needs to be reminded sometimes to cool it down a tad.

Heck of a question. I thought for sure Taylor Johnson was going to get thrown out. No loss...because he's terrible.

I don't think Gorg is a homer. He just has a hardon for goalies.

So you're a rerun in real life too?
