SCSU @ UND Oct. 28 & 29: A Battle of Like-Minded Schools

Re: SCSU @ UND Oct. 28 & 29: A Battle of Like-Minded Schools

no matter what happens this weekend, I pick the Sioux to be way ahead of jan in April

Re: SCSU @ UND Oct. 28 & 29: A Battle of Like-Minded Schools

... This thread sucks.... UND's fanbase is like just like their team; one line and then a bunch of nobody's. Seriously, contain Dirty, FS23 and MNS and you're left with guys about as talented as little Lammy.

SCSU is treated like a meaningless preseason game to most Sioux fans, so you see mostly scrubs and only a few shifts from the big guns like Dirty, FS23, and MNS.

Re: SCSU @ UND Oct. 28 & 29: A Battle of Like-Minded Schools

Uh oh... are we gonna have actually hockey talk in an SCSU/UND thread?

And yeah, I think SCSU spreads the scoring around a lot, its one of our strengths this season. Through 6 games our top line (if you can call them that, Motzko likes to shuffle around a lot but right now I'd call Reid-Festler-LeBlanc the top line) has scored 9 goals and the other forwards have combined for 9 and the blueline with 3. I think in the end the other three lines will easily outscore the top line, but right now I'd take an even ratio over UND's 2:1; Kristo, Knight and Nelson account for 10 of the 15 forward goals through six games, and UND's D has scored 4.
My fault and I apologize. :D I didn't catch any of the Wisco games, but I hear that our defense hasn't been as good as it's supposed to be. These games shall be interesting.

Again, I hate to have rational and insightful banter in this thread, but....

Our biggest question mark by far is our blueline. We've got players that have experience or talent, but not both... Jensen and Gravel are our best defensemen and both sophomores, Jensen a little better defensively and worlds better offensively than Gravel. Taylor Johnson is I hear made great strides since last season, but he'd have to to still be in the lineup, and our other upperclassman is Zabkowicz who is is consistently inconsistent. For every play he makes that makes us cheer he does two things that leave us yelling "What the hell?" Prochno and Rabey are just what you'd expect from talented freshmen defensemen; raw kids who provide sparks and make you one second think "We've got the real McCoy here" and then the next commit hiccups that cause you to tame your excitement and realize the jury's still out.

Couple all that with Lee still not being where we'd hoped he'd be by now, this is a squad that's capable of getting lit up (5 against UNH, 5 with an empty-netter against NMU and 4 against UAA) but also capable of going off too (7 against UNH Friday night). I don't have anything to back this up but I thought I saw something once where we returned the second most scoring in the WCHA this year, and we've got great balance up front: LeBlanc, Feslter and Novak are seniors, Eddy and Hanowski juniors, Reid, Dowd and MacMillan sophomores and then a decent group of freshmen forwards who actually at this point are probably more useful for a physical presence than a scoring touch.

I think these could be some close games, and while I don't really wanna get into a shootout cause I want to see our D and Lee show that they can really stand up for a whole weekend, we certainly have the firepower to get into a back and forth, wide-open game. With as inconsistent as both teams have been, start all your UND and SCSU fantasy players this weekend. :D

Re: SCSU @ UND Oct. 28 & 29: A Battle of Like-Minded Schools

Well, whatever....like Goon-Bag said. Lee has never beat UND. Things are looking up!

Re: SCSU @ UND Oct. 28 & 29: A Battle of Like-Minded Schools

Keep telling yourself that.
If this is season ending, we're in big trouble.

Don't be so dramatic....just more incentive for or D to lock it down. Calmer than you are....totally calm.

From @SchlossmanGF: "Motzko said they'll know in a couple weeks if it is season-ending."

Either way, he's missing a couple critical weeks. At this point, no one seems to have any idea on the type of injury or whether or not he'll even be able to return. That's real bad news for the Husky faithful.

And you said MY post in this thread was stupid...

I think that Faragher can step up and turn some heads, but holy hell, what a way to make your WCHA debut

Yes, advocating and or joking about throwing batteries at a coach/players is still stupid.

Would I rather have lee in net? Absolutely! He is not available. Can't control it. Have to move on. Ryan played a decent game @ NMU. Our staff brought him in to back up Lee. This will be a great test to see what he is made of.

I didn't advocate throwing any items at anyone, I pointed out that MN fans beat a dead horse about a situation that while ignorant and stupid saw nobody get hurt.

I hope Ryan plays out of his mind, but "Things are looking up!" bc Mike Lee is out for a few weeks at the least, maybe the season? Yeah... the cake's yours, where ya taking it?

Re: SCSU @ UND Oct. 28 & 29: A Battle of Like-Minded Schools

Fair enough Euro. Wasn't the best to joke about lee having a serious injury as "looking up." I'll own that & eat. It was more just a spin on the Goon-Bag that Lee has never won a game against UND. By no means did I want to be celebrating Lee's injury, but see how it came off that way.

I didn't think you were "celebrating" just like I'm sure you didn't think I was saying "chuck batteries at people." I'm just saying in the stupid post competition, I think I just won the silver medal. :D
