SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Yes, I have, as others have mentioned. His back was to the ice. From the replay it looks like his forearm/elbow hit Genoway in the back of the head. He coasted for a good 15 feet before he hit him. He lined him up for a high hit, he stood up to do it. Hits like this never "just happen" because of the speed of the game. This didn't happen at full speed. Marvin wanted to blow him up and he lined him up high and from behind. He had ample time to realize what he was going to do. He wasn't even looking at the puck.

I'm ok with the one extra game. I'd prefer two, but a year is way too much.

When you answer your own rhetorical question like that, you ruin the fun for everyone else. Especially Dirty...:p

The one thing not mentioned by your recap is this: In order for Marvin to hit Genoway he had to skate AROUND Hepp. Seriously.... he had to jump around Hepp to hit him... that's rather rough isn't it? I don't know. It's not "careless." It's beyond that. Is Marvin a cheap player? I don't know. Past history agrees with scsutommyboy. However, was it a cheap hit? I'm thinking yes.

As for the loss tonight, well, it further emphasizes the need for UND to refocus on Saturday nights. It isn't Genoway's absense that had UND playing subpar tonight. The Sioux have been subpar most Saturdays this season...it's just that UAA and SCSU have made us pay for it.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Anyone have a link on where I can watch this cheap shot?

Also, glad we could win at the Ralph for the first time in my memory.

UND played subpar tonight? They threw almost 50 shots on net and had some great chances. If Dunn doesn't play as well as he did, the Sioux could have gotten 3 or 4 more goals. Dunn played great, Dell didn't, UND missed Genoway on the PP and starting the rush...and the disallowed goal didn't help.

IMO the Sioux looked MUCH better tonight than what they did last night.

Cyclist? Great. Awesome. My dad is a BIG cyclist.

He should bike more if he's such a big cyclist. That's part of the benefit is weight loss.

;)

:p

Until a blood clot (major one in his leg) happened, he did the RAGBRAI every year (I'm guessing you know what that is), and ALA rides. He still does the MN Ironman bike ride, and tries to put in about 40-50 miles a week in the summer, maybe 1/2 hour per day on his cycling treadmill in the winter.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Dan Dunn stole that game.

That disallowed goal is so annoying. Why is that even a rule? I don't care if you meant to blow the whistle, you didn't and the puck was in the net. That should be a goal. Heck, why was it even reviewed? Was Adam going to decide he didn't plan on blowing the whistle and allow it?
I don't fully know the rules, so I can't say if that should be called a goal or not. But the refs have to grow some balls and make the calls and stick with them. That call had a domino effect on the game. They started blowing the whistle when the puck was visibly on the ice in front of Eidsness. Not saying that evens things out, but it happened multiple times.

I hate jumping on the WCHA ref hating bandwagon so early, but a terribly officiated series. Just try to get the calls right. Don't do the b.s. make up calls, or throw the wrong player out of the game and then let him back in and throw another guy out. They have replay available. Use it when needed and once the puck is dropped, move on. Why is this so hard?

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

I am glad Marvin did it. It was dirty. I don't care. It is because I am a Husky fan. I have never seen a player from SCSU do something like that. It probably sounds sick but at least they are starting to play like the teams that win do. That is really how I feel.
I have seen players on other teams do it. I have grown sick of the huskies being on the receiving end. Getting checked from behind, punched in the face in front of the crease. I want to see some more of that kind of play from our side.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

If Dunn hasn't won the #1 goalie spot for now, something is definitely wacky. Eddy is the real deal. Now this team needs to keep it up, and get some consistency going in their effort. boner's up!!

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

If Hakstol starts Eidsness the game is probably 2-0 NoDak. Weak goaltending by Dell was the difference in that game. NoDak pounded St Cloud and St Cloud had no answer. Bob should be happy with that win, because St Cloud stole it. The play was not different than most nights. Only a few players stood out for St Cloud, Dunn and Eddy were two of them.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

That was my first look at the hit and uh...yea, that was cheap and dirty. Definitely deserved what he got and maybe another game or two. Not all year though.

Agree with Skeeter on Dunn. It sure seems as though he's done enough to take the full time job. It will be interesting to see what Motzko does here.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

The Sioux got a lot of shots on net, but it also seemed like SCSU was beating them to a lot of pucks. The Huskies controlled the play in their O zone very nicely at times. Strange result if you focus on the disparity in shots, and the Sioux certainly missed some good chances, but I thought SCSU earned the win. Congrats.

Tough night for Dell. Hope it doesn't shake his confidence. At that level, though, I guess you better be able to deal with it.

Re: SCSU @ UND - November 13-14

Cheap and dirty???!! I don't think it was that bad. There are hits like that every week in the WCHA. I bet it would have only been a 2 minute penalty had the player not got hurt. The only reason he got hurt cause it was a big guy on a small guy.

Now how many times have the behemoths from Siouxville done that to other teams and players??

It's about time someone gave that team a small taste of there own medicine. The Sioux are year in and year out the dirtiest team in the league, so for their fans to be whining and moaning over this so much is really funny, and ironic.
