SCSU @ UAA - December 4th/5th

Re: SCSU @ UAA - December 4th/5th

It's like Rock/Paper/Scissors. You only get three choices...8th, 9th, or 10th. ;)

Though next year UAA can reach new heights...finishing 11th or 12th.

At least they can say that they have made an NCAA appearance.

Re: SCSU @ UAA - December 4th/5th

No... but I seem to remember you using the phrase "home ice" first half of last year.

Once again, your memory is faulty. I may have said "I hope they get home ice", but I learned long ago not to make such comments on this forum. Why are you trying to pick a fight ... over what?

Re: SCSU @ UAA - December 4th/5th

Can't think of anything positive to say about tonights game. UAA played a terrible period, but picked it up in the 2nd and 3rd. SCSU was the faster team, and seemed to beat UAA to all the lose pucks.

UAA had several power plays, but I honestly don't recall them recording even a single shot on goal on any of them, pretty sad performance.

And the crowd continues to get worse than before ... watching the players play such uninspired hockey is painful. Congrats to the Huskies, they deserved the win. I certainly hope tomorrow night is salvation Saturday for my wolves. Lets see some passion.

Props to Jonnie O, Haddad, and Wiles, because they actually looked like they wanted to win it. Others not so much. Lets see some pride tomorrow UAA.

BTW, the save that Lee made in the second period was the SAVE OF THE YEAR!! Amazing, UAA fans gave him a standing ovation.

Oh yeah. FREE SELBY!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately fell asleep during the broadcast and now woke up to the boxscore of 3-1. That looks good but did the Huskies really only have 3 SOG duing the 2nd and 3rd periods combined? Were they sitting on the lead that much or is that number off? Hopefully they can pick up the sweep tomorrow as 4 pts would be a big boost for this team, especially on the road.

Those numbers are correct. UAA controlled play for much of the second and third periods. They had glorious chance after chance and didn't convert. Of course they did score a goal, but the net was pushed off first by the Huskies. Still don't know why that was not called for delay of game, but these refs clearly had some issues tonight. They escorted 27 to the box, the score board said the penalty was on Roe. After about 5 minutes of farting around they get 27 out of the box and put #9 in it. They were awful.

That really wasn't picking a fight, that was just recalling things as I remembered them, but I don't know you, so its perfectly feasible that I am thinking of someone else.

I'm hoping for a better effort from St. Cloud tonight... we need the sweep.

I was confused on that one as well. The way I see it, there were three ways to call that...

1. Goal - UAA
2. Delay of game - SCSU
3. Hooking - UAA

...no goal and no penalty is the only call I can't understand.

The Ref's missed two penalties on that play. The UAA player hooked the SCSU defenseman which caused the wide open net and then Lee yanked the goal out of place which is delay of game. I guess the bottom line is if the ref would have called the first one and the second one never could have happened because once UAA shot the puck the play would have been dead. Ref's can't call a penalty because they looked at the replay. all they can do is say if the net was off before it went in the net. Shyak didn't seem to mad about it so he must have understood what happened.

Re: SCSU @ UAA - December 4th/5th

God is neat . . . let us sweep! :D

Amen brother.

Husckeys will need to grab the heavy-duty bristle brooms. It is nasty cold Way Up North. [And possibly grab an extra cup of coffee after reading the box score from last night.]

Mark you calendar for BWW wings on 01/23/10.

Re: SCSU @ UAA - December 4th/5th

Gotta love the WCHA where after tonight there are scenarios that could leave the Huskies tied for 2nd or in 7th all by themselves.

To be honest, I didn't see any hooking, but I did see the puck take a flukey bounce that left Lee vulnerable. That play aside, UAA had numerous glorious chances to put the puck in the net and didn't get the job done.

If I were the coach, I would make each of those players watch that first period over and over, maybe then they will get a sense of why there are no fans in the arena. Put your hearts into it tonight Wolves, you can't rest on your laurels and let Wiles do all of the scoring!!

I've heard the reason Shyiak doesn't dress Ken Selby is that he has no hockey sense. Well, I saw 20 players in last nights first period with no hockey sense. Dress Selby tonight coach. Seriously. Give the kid a chance.

Me neither it looked like a goal to me. And the stupid Kurt never asked that question in the 1st interview with shyiak. kept on yapping about a hook, low attendance, and "dominated?" when we weren't. I'm hating Haider with a passion for the inane observations he seems enjoy making with our losses. Only comment I agreed with was the refs delaying the game with all those committe meetings when calling penalties.

team did great... just need to make adjustments to touch hockey rules: done.

Oh yeah, obligatory congratulationess on the win and huskys are most improved team.

Just watched the replay of the waived off goal, and it was a good call. UAA did get their stick on a Husky, but he also took a dive. Then Lee, who was out of position, hurled himself back in place by pulling down on the front of his net. So the net was pulled forward off the ice just before the puck went in.

The call that made me shake my head even more was when the ref had his hand up for a penalty, and UAA skated around with the puck for quite some time. They blow the whistle when the Huskies touched it, then call a penalty on UAA? They need to pull their heads out.

PENALTY—Minor.
c. A player, including the goalkeeper, shall not delay the game by
deliberately displacing a goal post from its normal position. The referee
shall stop play when a goal post has been displaced.
Note: If the non-offending team has an offensive opportunity and their
defensive goal cage has been displaced, play shall be allowed to continue until
the scoring chance is complete.

But as the renaming on the league... Women’s Checkless Hockey Alliance is gaining speed from the overpaid sissy staff members of a few schools.

It sure appears that way. Let the guys skate, the refs are making these some very boring games. No flow. Refs have to have a conference after every penalty call to figure it out, then you add the mandatory timeouts for each period, and they are slowing down the game something terrible.

My assumption is duing the replay, the ref sees the hook not called, and can't call the penalty after seeing it on film, and he doesn't want to give up a goal on what should've been a penalty, so kills the puck as soon as UAA shoots it, therefoe Lee never had a chance to draw a delay of game penalty. Just a fan's assumption though, could be way off base.

And since Shyiak didn't argue the call, that leads me to believe that it wasn't the wrong decision.

I sit behind the team bench, Shyiak did argue the call, quite extensively.
