SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Quite a bit. And I assume that at least one of the officials should be watching that little black, round hard piece of equipment called the PUCK since it's a pretty important piece of the game we call hockey. Geoffrion had it at center ice, was staring at it, and got hit. Hard to believe an official didn't see the play.

Correct. There is never a reason for the offical to miss a hit when a player has the puck in a two ref system. I guarantee one of the refs saw the hit. Every player growing up was taught that is a clean hit, including those ref's. The sad part is college hockey has said that is now a penalty. The ref's should know that and should have called a 2 minute penalty. They didn't call the penalty because he wasn't trying to hurt him and were probably not sure if he hit his head. It was good hockey hit with a bad result. Those things happen in this game.

I know people don't agree with me and that is fine. Save your fingers and don't repeat the same things you have been saying for 5 pages.:D

According to the WCHA review Knight didn't contact the head, as they ruled it as a clean hit.
And Connolly seemed to be just fine this past weekend against UMN. ;)
Although he did still have a bit of a black eye from that fight he got into with JConn over who is the better Connolly.

Aha. Everyone at UND now trusts in the league's judgment. Got it.

Starvin Marvin is the man! What's with all the haters...kid plays hard and all you Sconi and No Dak fans calling him out would love to have that type of kid on your team. All you Nancy boys calling him out don't know jack about hockey.

It was good hockey hit with a bad result.

Why do you people keep saying this? According to the rules, which have been posted here numerous times, it was NOT a good hockey hit.

You don't get to decide whether the rule is correct or not. You can only look at the play and decide how it fits within the parameters of the rule. Clearly the people charged with enforcing the rule, disagree with you.

Whether a penalty was called in game or not is irrelevant. That same type of play is a point of emphasis in the peewee hockey that I coach and that exact play has been penalized umpteen times this season.

Contact to the head was made and therefore the hit was illegal.

If you want to debate the suspension, fine. The rule is cut and dried however.

So the rule is cut and dried??? did they get rid of it already:rolleyes:

Of course we get to decide if it was a good hockey hit or not. The rule doesn't say he has to get suspended. That hit in the NHL would not cause a suspension. The NHL has done great job of calling penalties over the last few years. They have got rid of the clutch and Grab and they have far less high sticking and hits from behind. They are serious about hits to the head, but they smart enough to allow a good hockey hit to be well a good hockey hit.

I see no reason to repeat myself.
Thus, I have no reason to understand what it is that you think should or shouldn't have happened. You simply want to argue and insult. Good luck with that.

Yes, the NHL is certainly the model to emulate when it comes to the issue of concussions and athletes.

By "good hockey hit" you imply that it was within the rules, which it clearly was not, as they are stated and were posted here.

It cannot be a "good hit" if it was illegal.

I'm done. Like I said, the league disagrees with you as do most everyone who isn't an SCSU homer.

As if we didn't know this was all about you feeling superior in the first place.

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Please explain how the following hit doesn't deserve a three game suspension

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

“He didn’t intentionally hit me in the head,” Geoffrion said of the shoulder-to-helmet blow. “I know him. I played with him in the (USA Hockey) festivals growing up. He’s a good kid. I know he didn’t mean to hit me on purpose.”

here's the story

Clearly he's still suffering from the effects of the concussion and doesn't know what he's saying.
Marvin meant to take his head off with that hit, isn't it obvious by now?
