If you think it was a penalty, then why shouldn't you also believe that Marvin deserves additional discipline for the second dangerous hit to the head he's delivered?

5 minute major on the ice. Coach from the team that was slashed sends the video in. If it's habitual I have no problem with a suspension.

No they won't. Only if there was a prior issue with the same type of infraction will they "have" to. See: Bruess last year and now Marvin this year.
If the Genoway hit had never happened, there's no way that Marvin would have even been suspended one game for that hit on Geoffrion. But the fact that he had a prior issue with the same result (hit to the head and injury), they were forced to act.

I'm not applauding the fact that a fight was going to happen. In fact, that is one of the reasons why I don't watch pro hockey.
But by me anticipating a fight occurring...that makes me classless? :confused:
Everyone and their grandma was anticipating a fight happening during that series, so no, I am not surprised that one almost occurred.
And being that the fight wasn't allowed to happen, I wouldn't be surprised if the situation arises again. But that doesn't mean I will support it. It will just be nice to have the situation put to rest finally.

because the rule is for any hit to the head intentional or not is a 2 min minor. This hit wasn't intentional Marvin lead blake for where he would have been if the pass to blake was tape to tape, it wasn't so blake looked down and slowed down a bit so that caused marvin to hit him a little farther forward then he intended to. If you want a break down by the tenth of a second I could get you that since I now have the video downloaded.

What's the strawman? That is wasn't a penalty? Or that Marvin shouldn't be subject to additional discipline for what he did?

I just posted the rule. It says absolutely nothing about intent.

I have no idea what Marvin intended to do because I couldn't read his mind at that particular moment. I have no idea what he intended to do when when he hit Genoway from behind. All I know is that both were dangerous, illegal hits to the head that resulted in concussions to players on the receiving end.

Anyone who plays that way should be prepared to suffer the consequencs.

Contact to the Head
SECTION 8. A player shall not make contact with an opposing player’s head or neck area in any manner.
PENALTY—Minor or major or disqualification at the discretion of the referee. Contact to the head shall be assessed in front of the infraction (i.e., contact to the head – elbow).
Note: The rules committee instructs officials to use a zero tolerance policy in this area.
