For those of us who "live and die" for our favorite college hockey team, there comes a time when that is secondary. And that time came to Pioneer fans this weekend.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — University of Denver center Jesse Martin sustained three neck fractures in Saturday night's hockey game at North Dakota and was transferred to a Minneapolis hospital this morning where doctors are deciding if emergency surgery is required to relieve swelling of the spinal cord, the player's father said.

It would have been closer if it hadn't been for those turnovers. Still, with only 2 losses, SCSU does have a shot at the playoffs. Unfortunally for them, so does Hillsdale, Michigan Tech, Wayne St(MI) and whoever comes out of the RMAC as well that are all in the hunt, with the RMAC team having the best odds of making it in via Earned Access.

The sad thing is nobody will care if they make the playoffs any way. heck when they hosted UND a few years ago there were more UND fans than SCSU at the playoff game.

I apologize that if given a choice on things to do on a given day... top of the list would be attending a sporting event. Born this way... blame my parents.

Regional rankings are out, and SCSU is currently ranked sixth. That would have them going to Allendale to take on Grand Valley State.

You guys will soon find out just how much we care about the playoffs.

Strangely ironic that the people calling the hit on Martin clean were the same people who wanted Aaron Marvin thrown out of hockey. Oh UND fans. You're so wacky.

There's been a lot of juggling of the lines in the early going with new line combinations almost every game. Expect the same for Friday, but Motzko said that there will be one line that will be kept together from Saturday: Cam Reid-LeBlanc-Jared Festler. That line had two goals and five assists in Saturday's 5-2 win.

Malone's hit was like marvin's hit at against UW a rare clean hit that hurts the other player, both wouldn't have been as bad if the player would have had his head up.

You are a moron if you think the Marvin hit on the Wisconsin player was dirty and the Malone hit wasn't......The hit on Genoway was cheap, nobody has said it wasn't.

From the WCHA rulebook:

The committee reminds coaches and players that the responsibility remains with the player making the hit to avoid contact with the head and neck area of an opposing player.

A player delivering a check to an unsuspecting and vulnerable player puts themselves in jeopardy of being penalized under this rule. Officials are to pay particular attention to these examples.

Also, it was not legal, because he got called for charging. If Marvin had hit Martin like that, he'd have been suspended for a month. I'm not saying Brad Malone is a dirty player, but that was an illegal hit.
