Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

I know stats don't tell it all, but

2nd half numbers
Dunn: 6-0-1 2.54 GAA .900 Sv%
Lee: 4-1 1.81 GAA .950 Sv %

I find it interesting that in 7 games, Dunn has faced 181 shots while Lee has seen 180 in 5 games, Dunn has given up 18 goals in the 7 games, Lee 9 in 5.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Got news for you...Gophers remaining schedule is @ DU, hosting CC, @ tUMD, hosting (or half hosting) UW... we're all Gopher fans for the rest of the regular season, and probably WCHA playoffs too, or at least the first round. :( Price you pay when the Gophers have a really mediocre squad. But, I'm not petty enough to cheer against them when they could help us... hell I jumped up and down and cheered when Blake Wheeler scored that sick game-winner against UND in the Final Five 'cause it helped us PWR-wise.

I couldn't agree more. I swear there are a lot of moron Husky fans that would rather see the Gophers lose than the Huskies win. I would love to see the Gophers split against DU, CC, sconnie and UNDumb.

Lee has played better and should start Friday. If he plays well he should start saturday as well. If Lee plays like he did last night the rest of he year this team has a shot at the national title.

Of course I'll cheer for the gopher if it helps us in the pairwise or league title chase. It doesn't mean I'll like doing it though. When all things are equal, and pairwise/league standings aren't in play, it always comes down to the order of hatred (which I was introduced to years ago by a Sioux fan) when deciding who to cheer for/against, and the gopher is #1 on that list.....which goes something like this for me:

WCHA Order of Hatred:
1. Gopher
2. UMD
3. Kato
4. Wisco
5. CC
6. Denver
7. UAA
8. Mich Tech
9. Sioux (I'm probably not the norm here but they're a distant second favorite after the Huskies. As for this weekend, Sioux are #1 on this list.)

Lee's recent numbers are exceptional. But I'd still keep the rotation. It offers competition between goalies, different goalie style looks for opposing teams, and both goalies are playing at high D1 standard. Hard to sit Dan down when he just doesn't lose.

Husckeys' primary concerns relate to their D corp. Gaudet looks like he is skating in slow motion at times while opposing forwards blow past him.

It's crunch time, we have to have the guy that gives us the best chance to win in net. Right now that is Lee. During the 1st half I was calling for Dunn to get more starts because he was the hot goaltender at the time. It was fine continuing the rotation then to get both good experience I guess. While Dan hasn't lost he has been giving up soft goals consistently, Friday night should have been a win and while the team didn't play great Dunn could've pulled out the win had he been on his game. Like TB said, if Lee plays as well as he did last night we could ride him a long way. If he struggles at least we know we have someone that can come in and potentially shut the door. Yes this is completely different from what I was saying a month ago but in sports it's now or never, you play the hot hand and see where it takes you.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

It was Dunn's 3rd straight bad start and 3 of the 4 goals (on just 19 shots) were bad and these points are too important.
Yes they were flat, but if Dunn makes saves on the first two goals like he should have, that's a tie game heading into the 3rd.
UAA's 4th goal was a good shot, but he was not in position, another on him.
Lee responded and make several good saves and has been flat out better overall the last month, he should get the UND series.

Also, Huskies is spelled in the rouser as it's played the 2nd time, not after it.

You guys want Lee to start the rest of the way, fine by me. I'm usually wrong about these things anyway (See: drafting Mauer, Joe, Harvin, Percy and Peterson, Adrian) but if he starts to look like 1st half Mike Lee again, then do you go back to the well and tell Dunn, "Look, I know we benched you, and then our golden boy sieved out, but we have all the confidence in the world in you."?

To be fair, Lee was helped by UAA a lot last night. Lee made like 3 phenomenal saves, and then a ton of boring, routine ones. When I looked up at the scoreboard after the game, I thought 33 shots was way too generous, and maybe there were that many, but not too many were quality opportunities. Him stuffing that kid backdoor was pretty solid though!

Oooh... I LOVE these lists! My turn, my turn!

1. Gophers
2. Duluth (but these ******** I think will take over the number one spot real soon)
3. Wisconsin
Big Break
4. Denver
5. Anchorage (I know they're supposed to be lower, but I'm sick of their fans and they're "we don't have any talent, so we're gonna be hacks." Plus after years of cheering for them to win every game and them never doing so, they're starting to **** me off)
6. Michigan Tech (Almost the same as UAA: MTU = UAA + awesome fans)
7. Colorado College
8. Mankato - How can you dislike Mankato? They're so much of a non-factor, and don't say they have a good record against us as of late... we just have imploded against them.
9. UND - I share your feelings on the Sioux, but won't delve into that this week. :D

Hey Motox, you going to the game Saturday?

I'm indifferent at this point. It was brought up on DaHuskies that Dunn did shut down UND in Grand Forks and for that reason, I would not mind giving him one more start this weekend, probably on a short leash. Then again, if Bob wants to start Lee on Friday and he looks good, I wouldn't be opposed to giving him the start Saturday.

9. UND: This is scary that we've all put UND as last considering they are our "natural" rival. I'm in grad school at UND and hold student season tickets. This year, awkward as it was at first, I have dawned a Sioux jersey to almost all of their home games, save for wearing the cardinal and red when the Huskies visited this season. I'll cheer for them and wish them all the luck in the world, unless it impacts my first love, SCSU.

I think Dunn has to realize he's playing himself out of the rotation and shouldn't be too disappointed if Lee gets the nod. He will be aware that if Lee sieves out he's going to get the call and needs to be prepared for that. Obviously we wouldn't have all the confidence in the world or else he wouldn't get pulled, but hopefully that motivates him to step up and play like he as at the beginning of the year if given the chance. Funny thing is, the way I'm making it sound it's as if the decision that Lee gets both starts has already been made? Or maybe it has!

As for Mankato being so high on the OoH, they DO have a decent record against us and we ALWAYS seem to lose to them at the worst time possible. If that happens again this year I'm going to be really ****ed!

Won't be in attendance for either game. :( Have a big test to take Sat morning but I'd like to head over to Sensors to watch the Sat night game. That has about a 15% chance since the wife took both kids to AZ this wknd and it would be a tall task to get her to agree letting me have another night off of parental duties (understandably so.) Probably just going to be watching both games on B2. Speaking of which, I watched last nights game and Doyle and the other announcer need to quit talking about non-hockey related stuff during play. It's insane! There's up and down action going on and the guy (not Doyle) is talking about getting people from Alaska to bring him up Halibut fishing, doh!

Just saw in the paper today that Benik had a role in all 6 goals scored yesterday, that's pretty good. :)

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

It is, the band spells it out during the second time through the rouser.

That may be so but I am still of the opinion that spelling F - Y is far better. Also, the Sports Band is not a good fit for hockey games in the first place. They use the wrong chants at the wrong time and they just mess up the general atmosphere of the arena. It may work fine for football and basketball but the Sports Band has no place at hockey games.

Besides, no self respecting music major would pride themselves in playing in pep band. Mr. wore Black has a music degree from SCSU and is currently a graduate student in musicology. He even agrees with me.

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

I called it on the wings and I call it here. Dunn will not play again this year unless we are in 3rd place game at final five. Lee is the real deal and ready for the final run. remember what Blais thinks of him

Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

Student tickets for the UND series can be picked up this coming Monday, February 8th. http://www.stcloudstate.edu/athleti...tory.asp?pubID=36&issueID=25859&storyID=30900

Any student out there willing to grab an extra one for me each night? I still look like a student and have access to valid student IDs. That sure would beat the pants off of paying 30 bucks per night. How about you STB?

I have a ticket for each night with your name on it. Let me know a good way to get it to you!
