Re: SCSU 2009-2010 Season Thread

No, but a TEAM gets better when the best goalie plays. And isn't it about the team?

Of course it's about the team, but I also don't believe who's been in net has mattered.
As I said, would it have made a difference if Dunn was in net over Lee in Lee's 3 losses when the TEAM scored a total of 3 goals?
Not likely.
All I'm saying here is it's too soon, 4 starts by Dunn and 6 by Lee is not enough to say one should be starting over the other, especially when the stats ended up as apart as they are by one weekend's games.
If it continues through Christmas then fine, give one of them the job, but it's not going to happen right now no matter how much any of you think it should.
The TEAM likes both of these guys and the TEAM thinks both of them can get the job done, so frankly, your opinion doesn't mean squat.

I don't remember exact names, but I have seen more than one person say Dunn should play all the "big games" while Lee should get NC starts and "lesser teams" which to me suggests Dunn should be the starter and I think it's too soon to say that.

If you're going to quote me from DaHuskies just say so. I said that and will stand by it. Again, don't blow this out of proportion. I think Lee is going to be one of the best goalies to put the St. Cloud sweater on when all is said and done, but I also don't think we should sacrifice a season with this kind of talent if we have someone playing at a higher level in goal. In my mind, Dunn has clearly played better and has been making the big saves the team needs to win. Saying that the team hasn't scored many goals on Friday's is true. But how do you know Lee doesn't let in a few extra goals in those Saturday games and now those wins become losses or ties? Dunn has made some huge saves in those Saturday games that Lee just isn't making.

We can hope and plan for the future all we want, but they have to play for the here and now. As it stands, Dunn is playing much better and until Lee proves otherwise I think Dunn should definitely get the start Friday night and in the big conference games like this weekend if he stays hot should get the start Saturday. Lee can still get plenty of game experience this year but if he's not playing on the same level as Dunn the TEAM should come first and not a freshman's development.

Imagine if the Huskies miss the NCAAs because of one of these ties or losses. The kid has some adjusting to do, it's okay to give him a little time to figure it out. Maybe taking a weekend off would be a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dunn in net tomorrow night.

I can see both sides of this one. I agee Dunn is playing better right now and should start Friday. The fact is Motzko said Monday night on his show Lee is starting Friday night.....

I have two tickets center ice next saturday night for $30 a piece(face value) if anybody wants them. The only catch is you have to sit next to my wife and I.

Of course it's about the team, but I also don't believe who's been in net has mattered.

This is where you lost ALL credibility. You never know how things would've happened if the goalie had been different. You never know how a team will react to letting in a goal, especially one the goalie would really like back. I also like how you know how the team feels about them both. :D

And if motox was the one you were talking about, fine, but I don't go on dahuskies much, so I hadn't seen a single person say that.

I've read how the team feels about both and yes you can say they are just words but I do believe them.
And no I don't know what would have happened if the goalie had been different in certain but neither do you or motox for that matter.
All I'm going on is the stats based on what they have given up.
What I do know is the team is scoring on Saturday and they aren't on Friday and listening to Motzko it's because the team is making adjustments and since he's said nothing about goalie play I have to assume it isn't the goalie they are adjusting to.
Also, you have to consider the fact that Motzko has never been one to give his goalies a long leash if they play poorly or he doesn't feel they are doing to job so why would he with Lee?
Just because he's "his" guy?
Well so is Dunn and we all saw Dunn get a quick hook and a ride on the pine pony for darn near two years.

All I'm arguing is that I believe the rotation will continue until at least Christmas and I believe that is the right thing to do.
It has nothing to do with Lee's development although I do believe he won't get better and won't become the goalie we need him to be by watching.
I do not care who starts what game whether Dunn or Lee but I do know that whoever is in net on Friday, the team needs to pick up their play on Friday.

I believe it is advantageous to still play both guys at this point in the season, but I also think with playing Wisconsin (who has been playing well) this weekend you at least need to start with the hot hand. You definitely don't wanna lose the first game at home. Ideally you win the first game with your hot hand and maybe play Lee in the second game. There is less pressure in that regard.

Yes, and stats were comparable going into NoDak. But stats aren't everything, and anyone who'd watched this team would say that even before the UND series, Dunn was significantly better than Lee.

You're right, I shouldn't call her out for her coddling. I'm sorry, it'll stop.

I love how it's "coddling" when I don't jump on the bandwagon and hammer whoever it is you think shouldn't play.
It's a good thing you aren't a coach, your players would be scared to make a mistake knowing they'd instantly be benched if they do.
