I think they figured out by their theory blue state legs could opt out of welfare payments to the red states.

Conservatives are fiercely independent unless it threatens their sweet, sweet transfer of payments.
 
Sounds like Alito went full asshole in oral argument today in the latest challenge to anti discrimination laws. Haven't seen the transcript yet, but sounds like they ran a hypothetical into the ground and then he took it and went to 11.

The American Right is going to have a lot to answer for to history.

Republican Members, pundits, and even their weak minded amoral voters will enjoy the same reputation as Nazis twenty years hence. And like those cowards, they will prevaricate.

The United States isn't real, it is only its people. Most of its people do have a conscience, even if it is typically put to sleep by torpor or ideology or consumerism.

The Right is an idea. Weak-minded and cowardly people are vulnerable to that idea. The idea has to die, as horribly and pathetically as possible. The people are still people. They are ends, not means, and we will not harm people as a means to killing the idea.

That is the difference between us and them.

I don't want violence, but anti-bullying campaigns don't work. These people are killing my community and showing up in our safe places with assault rifles. The only way to stop them is to make them bleed.
