I don’t think I could bring myself to move to Wisconsin, Iowa, or the Dakotas. I sincerely have no idea how uno and his family do it.

You’re probably right. Texas will go blue through demographics. Florida will go blue because it’s under water.
 
The young and non rich liberals won’t be able to afford the blue states - they basically can’t now. I can see some red states have companies move in for cheap COL and start a base of educated liberals. NM, AZ, NC

I'm thinking UT, WY, MT, ID. Those are all heartachingly beautiful states.

And for those who prefer trees over mountains, AL, MS, TN, LA. Physically move the entire city of New Orleans to Baton Rouge and fill it with California gays. It's already the most debauched and bizarre city in North America -- make it the largest as well. Because then when Ma and Pa Hayseed beat their gay son within an inch of his life FOR JESUS he can run to a southern liberal city rather than NYC or SF.

Eh I know I am outnumbered here but I do not see much of a difference between Madison and the Twin Cities in overall spirit of things. We both have severe embarrassment outside of those areas from what I have observed.

They both knew what was not mentioned. That is RBG saying "he suggested it within the bounds of tact and by not taking the hint I told him I was staying."

It was a terrible decision, but it was hers to make. She was strong and like most strong people she considered herself indestructible and irreplaceable.

The irony is she may have saved the Court by forcing us to expand it. Had the conservatives only stolen the Garland seat the mainstream Dems would probably not have the stomach for a fight, but now even they have realized we are in a crisis and must use every legal means available. That means erasing the conservatives, and that means 6 new justices.

Prior to Scalia's death, it was 6 Catholics and 3 Jews. I don't know what religion Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are, but Barrett would get them back to 5 again at a minimum.

ETA: Gorsuch is mainline protestant, but Kavanaugh is Catholic. So it'll be 6-2-1 after Barrett.

My girlfriend was distraught over RBG dying until I told her if America survives 2020 it will be because of RBG. She will be remembered as the woman who saved Democracy and literally died for it to happen.

Klobuchar nailed it...the people voting see through all of this and now the dishonoring of her with this stupid nomination (while people suffer with no COVID relief) is gonna shift things back.

You don't get back the Suburban Woman by spitting memory of their hero.

Even with his stay diet of Faux these days (his mind is sadly going) my dad is against this and he is not happy if Barret gets the nod. He flat out said Trump and the GOP are only pushing this cause they know they are dead in November.

I don't know how many of them are devout. Were I ever in a position like that, I'd list my religion as Catholic, too. But I haven't been to mass in over a decade except when I'm visiting my parents and go with my mother.

And it shouldn't be shocking that evangelicals aren't represented when their paragon of education is Liberty or Oral Roberts and they don't have anything resembling the Jesuits to push education within the religion.

Dumb question: If Barrett's record doesn't have skeletons in the closet, would it be wise for some safe Dems to praise her? Plant the seed of doubt in the GOP that maybe this isn't a wise move?
 
They had Stabenow (Michigan) and Kennedy (Louisiana) on Fox to discuss the pick. Kennedy called Stabenow (literally) crazy for thinking Amy Coney Barret would overturn the Affordable Care Act. Uh, huh.

Republicans think we're stupid. That's their entire platform. The American People are stupid for electing us and we're going to make sure we never deviate from thinking they are stupid.

This is happening. Some companies in cities in NYC and San Fran have started paying a one-time bonus to employees to relocate in this COVID-19 world, but then that comes with a reduction in salary with the idea of it being offset by the reduced COLA.

I would not even make them take the COLA hit. I would reward them with the added purchasing power of a blue state salary on a red state tardfarm.
