Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

Why are we still talking about this? Hes in as an SCJ. Lets move on to how dems wont vote in numbers and the Republicans will keep the house and senate.

Hey! No front-running Scooby's schtick! :D

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

So, ... Saturday night vote? Maybe sometime during the Manitoba at North Dakota exhibition game? Or will they go Sunday afternoon to avoid the Sunday morning talking head shows.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

I said I'd check so I did. The word refuted is used by Kavanaugh four times in his entire testimony. Never twice in a row or in the same sentence and never after his opening statement. Perhaps you're quoting Matt Damon.

But since I'm here and people talk about this subject:

Keyzer said that she never met K, she doesn't know him, and was never at a party with him. That refutes Ford's claim specifically.

Judge says he never saw K do what Ford says he did, nor does he believe K ever would do such a thing. That refutes Ford's claim specifically.

PJ says he doesn't recall ever being at such a party and continues on with "I have known Brett Kavanaugh since high school and I know him to be a person of great integrity, a great friend, and I have never witnessed any improper conduct by Brett Kavanaugh towards women." That refutes Ford's claim generally.

Obviously K himself refutes Ford's claim. That's all 4 people alleged to be at the party. I realize people will disagree with Judge or PJ especially, as to whether they "refute" the claim. I'm sure K would argue that their evidence does go toward refuting Ford's claim and he is allowed to make that argument on his own behalf whether it's in the court room or in the Senate. Or he would argue something much smarter, as whatever else he is, he is apparently a pretty good lawyer.

You're an idiot.

How can you claim you were never at a party with someone you don't even know. "Remember that party last week, Joe Smith was there? Who, I don't know Joe Smith".

Of course Judge is gonna say that.

And if a girl's being assaulted upstairs, and you're downstairs, how are you gonna know?

Stretching to find anything you can come up with to exonerate Kavanaugh. Keep up the good , centrist work.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

Agree Swetnick's completely incredible claims and Avenetti jumping into the fray hurt Ford. I found the Ramirez allegations the most plausible. But she had even less of a fact backed claim then Ford, who herself had very little in the way of facts to rely on.

Collins has apparently characterized the FBI check as a "very thorough investigation."

Well, when you don't interview any of the people she offered up to the FBI as witnesses, it's hard to move beyond the whole "he said, she said" thing.

Some investigation. Interviewed six people.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

Yes even Trump didnt stop that.

You keep saying that, and I think you're wrong. Ok, technically, you're correct, Trump didn't do it. Don McGahn did.

Trump just took to twitter to let everyone know that the FBI had free reign. Like anyone but Trumpers believe that.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

Some investigation. Interviewed six people.

They weren't six off the street.

Kavanaugh, Judge, Smyth, and Keyser have all denied any recollection of a party like the one described by Ford. You might discount the statements of Judge, as an alleged accomplice, and Smyth, as a male friend of Kavanaugh’s, but Keyser was a female classmate and a lifelong friend to Ford.

Keyser, who in Ford’s telling also had only one beer at the alleged party, has no recollection of any party at which Kavanaugh was present. Keyser, through an attorney, said she does not know Kavanaugh. “Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford,” Keyser’s lawyer said in a statement.

Keyser right there does serious damage to the Ford allegations. And it sounds like Keyser was one of the FBI Six (c).

From Handy:

Seems like something the FBI would look into since lying under oath to Congress is a crime.

What he said during his testimony was not allowed to be investigated. Not allowed to find out what Devil's Triangle meant, not allowed to investigate boofing, not allowed to seek evidence that refuted his claims about drinking.

Again, some investigation.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

That picture did doom Franken. Had that not existed he'd still be in the Senate.

If that was a Republican in that pic, that Republican would still be in the Senate too.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

It's about more.

It's about Presidential Power and protecting Trump.
It's about Corporate Power and protecting that.

And Kavanaugh has all of that in Spades.

And the 'patriots" and "freedom lovers" and the "get government out of our lives" people are the ones pushing for him.

Once again, choosing sides over their own self-interest.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

Again, idiot, how do you know if you were or weren't at a party that was also attended by someone who you don't know? One specific individual.

One must reasonably assume introductions at small gathering, like six people, no? A big kegger at an abandoned farm yard during HS (no further comment) you'd be correct. But a small, six person house party? I'm going with intros of some level, even if it's "That's PJ, Squi, Keyser. Grab a brew; don't cost nothing."

That hypothesized and admittedly assumed ...

The Ford allegation: Keyser and Kavanaugh and she were at a party. A six person (four boys, she and Keyser) party.

The Keyser statement: “ ... she (Keyser) has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he (Kavanaugh) was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford."

If Keyser says she and Kavanaugh were never at the same (six attendee) party Ford's claim of "both were there" is damaged.

Re: SCOTUS 13: Confirmation consternation contemplation

Roy Moore on line one ...

Roy Moore had yet to be elected to office, and the decision was up to the people of Alabama. Shockingly enough, they didn't want the man who was 30+ and chasing after high school girls. Times were different then.
