Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Third woman! How many will there be by tomorrow?

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Now we know why they set the deadline originally...they knew about this and figured it would break sooner or later. The question is how many others do they know about?

I fund this part interesting:

Now we know that Sicatoka will be by in the morning to tell us why none of this matters and why it is some miscarriage of justice (I bet Alan Dershowitz is frothing at the mouth) and then will throw out some false equivalency about Keith Ellison out there just to be safe but to anyone who actually critically thinks this is rather troublesome. It can be argued that one person is lying or mistaken, but the chances two random women are is much less believable.
This is usually the key (the number of women has been increased in some cases) to these sorts of issues. 1 woman? Ok.....2 women? Uh oh....if there are 3 or 4? Does NOT look good for the alleged assaulter. Not good at all.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Now with the caveat that of course this could all be BS...right now the only real logical conclusion is that the GOP knew there was some issues out there which is why they wanted this to be as quick as possible. It made no sense originally why they seemed to be running the 2 minute drill trying to get him to the bench but now it makes total sense.

If there are three women there is no chance he can get confirmed...and if they screw this up I am not sure how this will come the midterms. The Senate is already kind of shaky but standing in lock step with this clown (after doing much the same with guys like Roy Moore) isnt going to make any of the currently close races any less close. Plus your base wont be happy you dropped the ball on the 1 yard line.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Flake has to save them by saying he won't vote him out of committee. Trump, McConnell, Grassley and company have doubled and tripled down all week and haven't shown a willingness to allow a graceful exit in anything. I can't see them actually withdrawing a nomination

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Go research the questions Avenatti wants the committee to ask... specific questions about specific acts about stuff that happened at these parties. These aren't fishing expedition questions they are full on cross examination questions and he knows the answers. Whoever he is representing saw (or was part of) firsthand the sexcapades going on and has names.

Also:

"Avenatti's response to the email was also included in the photo, to which he told Davis that he is "aware of significant evidence of multiple house parties in the Washington, D.C. area during the early 1980s, during which Brett Kavanagh, Mark Judge and others would participate in the targeting of women with alcohol/drugs to allow a 'train' of men to subsequently gang rape them."

"There are multiple witnesses that will corroborate these facts and each of them must be called to testify publicly," Avenatti continued, before going on to list several questions he advised Senate investigators to pose to Kavanaugh "without delay and provide the answers to the American people."

Sounds remarkably similar to the questions that Kavanaugh drew up for Ken Starr to ask Bill Clinton during Whitewater.

Yeah, this has now blown up, and the winds have changed to "maybe he MIGHT be telling the truth" to "uh, well, about that." I am really trying to wait until all info is out there, but Kav.....unless something changes, you're done.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Literally any other era but the Trump era, it would be a given that Kavanaugh would be withdrawing his nomination later this morning. With Thomas, Hill was his only accuser. If there are others who are coming forward, then Kavanaugh's goose should be cooked.

Agreed. EVEN if potentially not true (I stress "even") he's done.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

well...... if you are in charge and hearings occur, who allowed it?

:p

Why shouldn't the Republicans be the one to give the hearing? They're calling the obvious bluff. Once the accusers find out they have to be cross-examined under oath to actually defend their fable, they fold. Why this didn't come out during Kavanaugh's previous appointment confirmation speaks volumes.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Take it with a grain:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-cards="hidden" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">UPDATE: Sunday evening Michael Avenatti tweeted, "I represent a woman with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge." <a href="https://t.co/wGzEx4lbDD">https://t.co/wGzEx4lbDD</a> <a href="https://t.co/y5EiDSzOhD">pic.twitter.com/y5EiDSzOhD</a></p>— Newsweek (@Newsweek) <a href="https://twitter.com/Newsweek/status/1044043175747293184?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 24, 2018</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

"Update: Sunday evening Avenatti tweeted, "I represent a woman with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge. We will be demanding the opportunity to present testimony to the committee and will likewise be demanding that Judge and others be subpoenaed to testify. The nomination must be withdrawn."

However, in a follow-up tweet, Avenatti denied that his client was Deborah Ramirez, a second classmate of Kavanaugh's who came forth this week."

Why should I take it with a grain? Seems to me Avenatti has been very careful and right about everything he's said in public.

It has been almost exactly 27 years since the Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas hearings, and we are still defensively explaining — including to our troglodyte president — why women do not always tell the authorities about verbal and physical sexual assaults, why they bury episodes or try to maneuver past them.

I didn’t sleep the week of the Hill-Thomas hearings. At first, I was feverishly trying to figure out what was true in their two diametrically opposite stories.

But it quickly became apparent that Thomas was lying.

His friends and supporters had talked publicly about how, at Yale Law School, Thomas was a regular patron of X-rated movie houses and enjoyed describing the porn to friends afterward.

But that was not introduced into testimony by either the Republicans or the Democrats. Instead, Utah Senator Orrin Hatch — who is still on the Judiciary Committee at age 84 for this new kangaroo court — suggested that a man as esteemed as Judge Thomas could not possibly know the language of porn, that anyone who talked like that was “a psychopathic sex fiend or a pervert.”

Hatch preposterously accused Hill of scavenging her testimony about Long Dong Silver from an old law case, and her story about Thomas asking “Who put pubic hair on my Coke?” from the novel, “The Exorcist.”

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Of course they need to ram through the guy who has shown disdain for women his whole life. Gotta hurry and let him make decisions to make women’s lives even more miserable. I’m sure a few around here have boners just thinking about it

C'mon. What 17 year old High School boy doesn't do this kind of stuff?
