surprisingly enough down by 2 goals, Utica is out shooting Elmira 12-6. Still 2-0 Elmira :(

Elmira scores on the Powerplay and goes up 3-0 on Utica. The games getting out of hand & reach now for the Pioneers.... :(

End of First Period

Elmira 3
Utica 0

The Pioneers lead in the shots department 12-11 but Elmira is just relentless on the attack and have the lead after one period of play, 3-0. Evan Smith is in goal for Utica too btw. Hopefully the Pioneers can muster up something and score a goal or two next period and maybe have some sort of chance and tie this game up. Elmira starts on the Powerplay for the begining of the second period. Maybe its time Utica puts in another goalie for the rest of the game.......? :(

The period ends tied at 2 in Oswego. The announcers say how the 2 goals for Plattsburgh were on a questionable call but even as a Lakers' fan I don't see it. Bremner was pretty reckless in crashing the net and even if he was tied up with the defender, it was still a good call. On the other hand, the refs are letting a lot of obstruction calls go in the offensive end, I understand if they're going to let them play, but they sent the precedent calling Titanic for a hold that wasn't much more than positioning.

A "report" I got from the game is that Elmira's really wearing down Utica with the defensive pressure and the passing sequences from the Eagles are putting the Utica defenders out of position easily.
