Re: Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1
Interrupting your updates for some MASCAC news.
UMass-Dartmouth beat Framingham State 5-2.
UMD has been struggling this year, with the highest loss total they've had in over 30 years. Beating the conference cellar dweller doesn't prove anything. Then again, at least they beat them [looks at Salem State].
---
Fitchburg State beat Plymouth State 5-4.
Fitchburg took their high power offense and lit up Aaron Runner (who entered the game as the best goaltender in the MASCAC, statistically that is) for 5 goals on 26 shots. Andrew Hutton had two goals (and was initially credited with the third, which would have given him a natural hat trick). Fitchburg's defense got passive in the final five minutes, and the Falcons had to hold on to come away with the two points.
Also, at the moment; there's a box score error that currently shows the impossible:
Code:
FIT-3 Andrew Hutton (2-Holding) PLY 0x3 12:15
FIT 3-0 5x6 SH Andrew Hutton (9) (Kris Threlkeld, Chris Riggs) 13:57
Scoring a goal from the penalty box? Never seen it happen, and I was watching this game (Hutton did do both of those things, the time on the penalty is wrong)
Plymouth State falls to 11-7-0, and will play recently slumping Westfield State next on Thursday. Fitchburg State improves to a pretty impressive 13/14-3-1 and will play struggling UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday. With at least a few ranked teams falling this week, is this good enough to get the Falcons
any consideration in the polls? (They at least deserve more than Superior).
I haven't seen either Plattsburgh or Oswego play this year (and I missed the first half), so I'm not going to comment much on the game. From what I've seen, the teams have been taking lots of penalties (although I'm sure the whole game hasn't been like that). It seems to me whoever takes the fewest penalties in the third will win it (that penalty shot didn't help).
Anyway, done with MASCAC news. Back to the games that everyone cares about.
