Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1

Re: Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1

3-0 CSS over Stout, final

Kleiman with something like 42 saves.

Re: UC v EC

Out for the season? What happened to him? Willard is a good player, but isn't the fastest skater I've seen. The team seems to be playing well now.

I heard he broke a finger or two on his last shift in the Potsdam game. I agree he's not the fastest skater, but his puck control is amazing.... and he gives 100% every shift.

This is what I heard also... There is a possibility for his return next weekend.

Josh...I'm sure for the six seniors who only have six games left in their career...the game is VERY relevant.

I want to make it clear at no point in this process have I made any negative comments about players - of any year - nor do I intend to. In this whole scheme of things they are the unfortunate recipients of other people's screw ups and I feel for them. Having interacted with many of them personally, I can speak to their character and integrity.

Yes, for the seniors these games are meaningful. But for the program and the fans, the games are very similar to what Northeast-10 teams experience (and the relative anonymity that comes with that), which is below the traditional level Geneseo fans are accustomed to. That was all I was commenting on. There's no reason to disparage the players, and I have no intention of doing so.

Re: Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1

The MASCAC conference can be really screwy.

Westfield State beat Worcester State 10-5.

Westfield was coming off a 7-1 loss over Salem, and Worcester's last game was a tough 3-2 OT loss to (now) 1st place Fitchburg State. I would've thought this would be a close game considering these teams performances lately.

To Worcester State's credit, they were pretty competitive the last 37 minutes, outshooting and outscoring Westfield 5-2. The first 23 minutes? Not so much.

Random question: If Geneseo/Buffalo State games are now as relevant as the NE-10. Then how relevant is the MASCAC compared to that? (Don't really know why I'm asking, guess I'm bored).

elbo... Clewlow to the first line now?
After last night's results, I'd certainly hope so.

Because, there is always hope for the MASCAC (see Adrian prior to 09-10). There is no hope for Genny/Buff State.

I wonder in 11-12, given the MASCAC / Little East sharing teams in sports when one conference sponsors a sport and the other doesn't, will we end up with a combined MASCAC-LE hockey conference when the MASCAC gets the AQ????

[THREAD HIJAK ALERT]
Then combine the East (less D-II) and West for a 12 team conference split 6E and 6W which yiekds a 16 game conference schedule. This eliminates the Pool B problem for the West and sets up an Eastern super conference that could monopolize Pool C in years to come.

I don't think this will happen, and your numbers are off - the ECAC W is 6 teams, the ECAC E without the D2s is 8 teams. That is 14 teams - If LVC shuts down it is 13 teams, which is a really lousy number. Or are you counting some Little East teams as out of the East and into your mega league (I don't know who is in the conference)

The only way something like this could happen would be if the NESCAC bails from the Interlock, because the East schools are happy with the arrangement.

Re: Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1

I have heard rumors that the NESCAC may bail out of the interlock. Is there any basis for these rumors, or is this someone's wild hypothesis?

Re: Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1

Tell me about it! Why the hell Emery plays him in these big games blows my freakin' mind. Leis is alright; but he gives up so many rebounds and opportunities - and our defense does nothing to offset the rebounds he unleashes. Certainly, he is NOT our top notch goalie.

One would think the first time around against Oswego he may have had his ... um ... handed to him; but apparently he is so good he deserved the start in net. Really? C'mon Emery; Helen Keller wouldn't even consider him in net against Oswego.

It's nice to see Williams is in there to hopefully keep us within reach; but it will be quite an uphill battle at this point in the game.

Guess you should be coaching Plattsburgh....

Leis is a quality goalie. Williams is a better quality goalie. Leis would be a number one on many DIII teams. Obviously, Emery felt Leis would give Plattsburgh a chance to win tonight, and he was wrong. Perhaps he has determined who is number one is now. He's a **** good coach and I'm sure there is something there that makes him believe they could have won tonight with Leis.

USM is a Little East School( the only one in the ECAC EAST I am pretty sure) but I don't think you would find them intrested in joning that conference: unless they are made too...

The odd team out of the EAST would be USM: they are a Little East school in most other sports...

Re: Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1

Very strong rumor that the Interlock is done. If so there will be a big shakeup. Norwich would have a couple of choices, one is they could go DI in the Atlantic, we would love to play Army, Air Force, Holy Cross etc.

If the NESCAC does indeed bail on the interlock, how serious is this discussion? Or were you just having a little fun with the suggestion?

I was wondering when this was going to pop up:cool:

I've been holding my tongue for a year now.:D

I did make one comment a few months ago when someone said something to the effect of Norwich moving to D-I.

I think it might have been Cardsruletheburgh?

Correct, my friend.

Your comment about my post.

joecct's comment about my post.

But the question still remains: how legitimate is this discussion. It smells of April Fool's to me, but it'd be interesting to see.

Isn't there a moratorium on teams playing up?

Re: Saturday January 30th Scores: A Whiteout in Oswego #4 vists #1

Isn't there a moratorium on teams playing up?

Yes, but it is set to expire just prior to the 2011-2012 season. If this were the last year of the Interlock, the Cadets would have play next season in DIII without it. (Although I would imagine the announcement of the end of the Interlock would come in the form of "The interlocking schedule arrangement between the NESCAC and the ECAC-E will be discontinued after the 2011-2012 season")

Any team considering playing up has until July 1, 2011 to apply for it. They would then begin the reclassifiation rocess in the 2011-2012 season.

Gentlemen, do you think this discussion deserves a thread of it's own?
