Saturday 11/28/09 -- Scores and Updates

Re: Saturday 11/28/09 -- Scores and Updates

It's hard to say if those guys match up skill-wise with Platty's suspended players. Ryan Corry is the Cards' best all-around defenseman, and Kyle Kudroch is a top 6 forward. Jared Docking has excellent speed, great endurance and creates havoc on the ice and Matt Bessing was highly touted, even by some on this board who saw him in juniors. This all doesn't matter, though. If Norwich fans are excited they tied Platty, I don't see the issue. After all, Platty was picked by many to win the Primelink anyway.

It is what it is...a tie. As a Plattsburgh fan, I'm not ashamed of that at all. :)

Thanks for making my point. It was not intended to take away from how well Norwich played...they looked in my eyes as a top 5 team. The point is, if and when these boys return (plus Vandy) how dangerous will this team be then....with one game left in the first semester and a record of 7-1-1 with out having a "full" team is pretty impressive. I will take a win over Middlebury and a tie with Norwich any day of the year....

Re: Saturday 11/28/09 -- Scores and Updates

And what news is that? Care to share?

During the game friday night night Potsdam(who has all canadians on the their team, with the exemption of 4 players,in which one of those 4 american players on Potsdam's team is the son of one of the assistant coach's on Utica),had a series of Candaian Players go past and stop at the Utica bench, saying derogatory terms such as were all a bunch of American ******* and were american's and we can't play hockey, and just really taunting our coach(who is from Toronto by the way),and for the most part our country in general.

Okay Potsdam, you don't like our country? good! the door's alway open to leave just as it was to enter this country!....if this country is sooo bad, why'd you come to college here? theirs plenty of schools in canada you can go to and for a hell of a lot cheaper! ohh? you want to come here so that you can get playing time and get noticed by scouts from the United States? ahhh,i see ;) okay, then keep your mouth's shut. For the first time in a very long time, these games felt more like war than college hockey games.:(

Meh. I've taken photos from between benches, in the penalty box, and in other places that made me privy to some of the conversations that go on and I've heard some good ones. When one team is up big, they chirp. It's the way it goes. I'm sure UC was all over Neumann during there big 7-3 win. Even the Saint schools don't have saints on the ice. Is it classless? Yes, but it won't stop.

Re: Saturday 11/28/09 -- Scores and Updates

The only thing that needs to be said is that it was a great game, and while the concept of the shootout to settle a game is somewhat lame, it sure was great theater! Nice to see Chad get the winner.

Probably good thing for Norwich it went to a shoot out

But once that 5 minutes up it becomes meaningless...so why not give the fans a treat. I'm sure if you ask the players they probably liked it as well. A lot of fun and well worth the money.

I wish more leagues agreed to have experimental shootouts if games ended in ties.

It's fun for the fans and I'm sure the players and plus it bears no meaning on the actual outcome of the game.

Meh, play a 20 minute overtime for tournaments, then go to a shootout. Extra hockey is more exciting to me, PLUS the win would actually count in the eyes of the NCAA

The NCAA gives two options 5 minute overtimes + shootout or play 20 minute OTs on until someone scores. 20 minutes followed by a shootout isn't an option.

On a slightly different tack, I think 10 minutes would really be a better length for an OT before settling for a tie, but in somebody's infinite wisdom 5 became the number after it had been 10.

The NCAA allows 20 minute overtimes for regular season games?

I think it is for tournament games...like the primelink.

Kinda like the mini game format that the NCHA employs for its first round games. Or the O'brien cup uses the 20 minute overtime periods for the women's tournament games.

For in-season tournaments in which advancement to the finals or the tournament title is at stake. In Primelink #4, it took NU 2 OTs to beat Plattsburgh in a semi. For the next rotation they opted for the Shootout format

Where did you get this information from? A reliable source? Yourself? Sounds strange to me...
