Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

Why would The Second Mile be banking over 9 million dollars? Since they're a charity, shouldn't they be doing, ohhhhhh............... "charitable" stuff with that money?

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

inevitable ...

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State's trustees have hired a large Pittsburgh-based law firm to represent them in relation to the child sex abuse scandal for which three current and former university employees face criminal charges.

Took them long enough. The NCAA should finish up its investigation of the Kennedy Assassination any day now...

the charges must be REALLY serious. for the NCAA to get involved and all. maybe one of the kids wore a Redskins tshirt?

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

CNN now reporting JoePa has treatable lung cancer.

ETA: Drat, beaten to it. I think Joe Paterno wins this year's "Worst Week Ever" award.

And as someone who lost a grandma to lung cancer, "treatable" doesn't mean it's gone for good. It has a knack for looking like it's in remission, then spreading all at once and killing you within a month.

Phew. It just wouldn't be right if uninvolved current players aren't punished because Penn State was using hidden child rape as a recruiting advantage a decade ago.
The NCAA makes a mess of routine recruiting violation investigations. It's scary to think how badly the NCAA might handle something this major.

On top of that, just wait until they eventually give someone a worse punishment than whatever they give Penn State.

Example- Boosters paying players for illegal hits on opponents: Worse than child abuse.

Re: Sandusky/Penn State scandal

the unending story - this has to be a news director dream -

Paterno has lung cancer.
but its treatable.
Second Mile is closing.
no, its not.

The NCAA didnt do anything to Auburn even though their QB was shopped around for 6 figure deals and didnt even hide it. They are toothless and since I am guessing none of this violates their bylaws and they have no power of subpoena they will do nothing.

In other news USC loses 12 more scholarships because they practiced for 5 extra minutes ;)
