What I'm saying is when Paterno learned what happened second hand, how can he defend not confronting Sandusky? I'm not speaking legalities here...

I think that it just makes him human, as opposed to an exalted deity that he was considered PSU.

He's still considered that by many at PSU and many PSU supporters. Sure, it makes him human...a bad one.

I'm still around. And I wasn't defending Sandusky. Other than that, you're right on the money.

Sandusky arrested again on the two new charges.

Can he be held on the new charges this time? Not familiar with how this works.

Hopefully they hold him. He's the biggest flight/suicide/"accident" risk in the world right now, and also the judge would be crucified in the media if he allowed bail.

The story I read was that the prosecutors wanted $1 million bail, but the judge dropped it to $250,000. And if he gets out on bail he has to have electronic monitoring. Better than the first judge that totally dropped the ball, but still seems like he's getting off light on the bail given the gravity of the situation. He's probably got a good bit of savings from all those years as a highly paid assistant.

Being out on bail wouldn't bother me, being released without bail this time would.

This entire look at the Pennsylvania court system is pretty much confirming the old joke about Pennsylvania being Philly, Pittsburgh and everything else is Alabama.

How long is statute of limitations? For some reason four years is implanted in my mind, but a lot of these Sandusky ones are over four years. Just asking since Fine appears to have escaped.

Seeing the recent news on Fine, I had the same question.

Statute of limitations differs from state to state and crime to crime. It also doesn't count while the victims are juveniles. It won't apply on the crimes Sandusky has been charged with, otherwise he wouldn't have been charged. Being beyond the statute of limitation is one of the reasons Fine wasn't charged.

I know in the Fine case, it was mentioned that the statue of limitations was 10 years after the victim's 18th birthday... Since the one victim was 28, they had passed that barrier...
