RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Did I not just read on your post in Scores and Updates for the Michigan game....stay out of the penalty box? That was my point about the video and my comments. When I am not at the games I follow online although I do not post while following the game. How much time is spent posting on the penalties this team takes or receives?

Your post was not about penalties, it was about the poster.
Penalties have always been a problem at RPI.
I will reserve my judgement about Luke. What he does now does not indicate what he will do in the Engineers system.
Bashing a poster is not acceptable.

That is a good point. Remember Andrew Lord? He had a lot of penalties, and got suspended once for three games. IIRC, that was when he bit an opponent's finger, or it may have been another incident. In any case, he did not get all that many penalties in at RPI. He also played in the BCHL.

Red Cloud is in charge of bashing other posters. :D

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Luke may not need it, but this thread appreciates the inside information that a parent can provide.
A lot of questions come up about a recruit that can only be answered by an insider.
We are starved for infromation and I for one hope that you have not alienated babo.

Fear not...one cannot be alienated when having this much fun! I love this blog and am thrilled to get your insights...all of you...never backed off in my life and won't start now...:D

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Interesting...sounds like the budget didn't allow for interior "bling":D ...If I can make the trip. I'll be in touch !

Hey Wicked...I thought the hubster was going to be home from Iraq for the Quinnipiac game on the 8th...he will not...I have an extra ticket as a result and will not offer it to anyone before I hear from you...you have until game day as I can ALWAYS find a hockey friend to scoop it up at the last minute...:)

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Ironically, I REALLY like the HFH rink...we're traditionalists, so the aircraft hangar feel is so appealing...the only thing that would be better would be an outdoor rink (that's my prediction for future rinks with the growth of the 'Classic' Game popularity...somehow incorporating that into the college venue...AWESOME)

While admittedly biased, I share you feelings on HFH...though we really need new concessions and restrooms. I'm sure you heard about it when visiting with Luke, but the plan for HFH(as part of the EVAC Phase II) is for construction to begin following the end of the hockey season. Scope is sais to include exterior renovations with a new facade, main lobby and club room type boxes to be built. I have not heard anything indicating that this timetable has changed.

Gotta check the calendar, but I am solid maybe.:D Will get back to you shortly. Thanks!

I added RPI's recruits to RPI TV's hockey player database, and here are their Stats Cards that I would use during RPI TV broadcasts.

I'm unsure what Greg's year will be next season; I assume he'll be listed as a junior? I'm not clear on the eligibility rules.

I'm looking forward to official RPI head shots, some of these photos aren't the best =)

Very impressive graphics and not a throw away in the bunch! I think it was Dr. Demento who said earlier that things are looking bright...imagine if the team finishes strong this year and can feed this new crop into Appert's system with care...

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I see that the Colts Jr. "B" team has a Laliberte-caliber kid in the making. I hope Appert has been in touch ! :D

"The Cornwall peewee B Colts had a busy December regular-season schedule.
In a decisive 10-1 win against the North Leeds Stars, Derek Lister netted four goals and an assist...

"...Lister scored a hat trick in a 6-4 loss to Alexandria."

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Not directly related to RPI, but I was a bit shocked to see that the entire Nepean Raiders coaching staff, led by Gary Galley, resigned over the Christmas break. A huge blow for the kids on that team. Apparently the owner sent down an edict via email dictating which players would play, and apparently Galley told the owner what he could do with that.

Nepean had a power house team last year and is in 3rd place in the division so far this season. Several kids from that squad are headed to D1...including Sexton and maybe Sakaris (if his offer wasn't pulled) to Clarkson and Calof to Harvard.

Yes it was I who said that-but I had just had some Dutch Caramel Vodka. I promise to be in a much better frame of mind tonight-I just got my other half back out of the hospital. We promise to toast each goal we score with a dirty martini for me and Van Gogh Caramel for Jenny. See you all on the scores thread later. I really love where this team is heading. :)

A speedy recovery to Jenny...for the record, Doc, NO martini is EVER dirty enough...the Dementos and I float in the same boat! (There's no symbol for a hiccup!)

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I see that on Heisenberg's list, two more Penticton players have committed to US colleges http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rZN-GJH1Q0NQeXIJG47g-ug&gid=0. I wonder what the record is for a non-USHL junior team.

Good question, Ralph...I know they were at or close to 13 commitments last week...that is the median for a USHL team. I know the coach, Fred Harbinson, has a hand in this, but NOT just because of his schmooze skills knowing the colleges as a former D-I Asst coach. I think it's his skill as a recruiter and a mentor for the boys that DRAWS good guys to his program and THEY earn the scholarships from his tutelage...

Don't yell at me if I say something stupid here...is the Sexton you mention Ben, son of Randy who is Panther's GM? Ben is actually on the Vees in Penticton.

About the Nepean guys walking off...you almost can't blame them if the entire staff feels they've had their legs cut out form under them by management. I don't know the whole story but it it's everyone? Yikes!

I think that Wicked is living in the past. ;) He played there last season.

Tonight after beating Michigan 4-3 I just mixed myself the most wonderful Vodka Martini using Chopin Vodka. So clean, so refreshing, so wonderful to beat Michigan:) Jenny only home from the hospital a few hours so no Van Gogh for her just yet. :(
