Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

If you had thought about your initial post for a even millisecond, then you'd know that if you want to survive playing in a league with fighting, you don't back down from a direct challenge. Ever.

Luke made an excellent, clean body check in open ice, then he responded after he was challenged by the other team's goon. If you don't understand this, the simplest of hockey's unwritten rules, we'll have to send you to Don Cherry's Hockey 101 remedial class.

Correct-I gave the nod for the excellent clean body check-- go reread my post--what I was referring to was the celebration after the fight-there is a difference between defending yourself and what I saw-JMO. He does that at RPI and he will be sitting in the stands the following game or two. Also from what I read in the papers doesn't seem like the coaching staff would be fond of it either. JMO

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I will give my opinion on Luke and the other players on the team as I get to watch them...just as you do...opinions are allowed, no? Whether I talk him up or not, you're right, his play will speak for itself. I look forward to giving my opinion on all the players and look forward to hearing yours...thanks for sharing how you feel, JMO

Yes welcome to posting. Not my point though. I think you understood what I meant though.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

...what I was referring to was the celebration after the fight...

If you had bothered to say that to begin with, think of all the typing you'd have saved. My opinion stands...if you set out to kill the king...:D :

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

The rink is nice...but I must say a bit disappointing for a brand spanking new rink...If you're putting up bank for 'state of the art', they missed out on something...the complex is awesome as the basketball arena is within as well. And the athletes will be housed in the same complex up on a hill overlooking Sleeping Giant Park...bucolic...but the inside of the rink leaves something to be desired for my money.

Do let us know if you ever come to a game...I'll buy you a beer!

That complex will have a massive dormitory structure that will house much more than athletes. The Q has pretty much maxed out their main campus across from the park so the focus of their expansion will be the remote campus (a couple of miles away).

Their rink is very nice but I think I know what babo means. Inside it seems kind of sterile with too much exposed concrete. It's kind of a 2000s era equivalent to the rink at Dartmouth.

Interesting...sounds like the budget didn't allow for interior "bling":D ...If I can make the trip. I'll be in touch !

PLEASE don't get all pious on us...imagine a 3 minute episode in your hockey life in which you deliver the hit of the night AND dispatch an enemy...I even know what that's like, having served in the military and had to fight in a pugilist competition against someone I had NO interest in facing...ANYONE would be jacked up...unless his MOM was against it...
And can someone tell me what 'JMO' means?:D

Ironically, I REALLY like the HFH rink...we're traditionalists, so the aircraft hangar feel is so appealing...the only thing that would be better would be an outdoor rink (that's my prediction for future rinks with the growth of the 'Classic' Game popularity...somehow incorporating that into the college venue...AWESOME)

Pious  Luke doesn't need his mom showing videos of him or defending him on this blog- JMO. He is obviously a big strong kid with talent and we look forward to seeing him play for the team but let Luke's play be HIS voice! Ever heard of the theory LESS IS MORE? JMO

OK, you have a problem with me...I acknowledge. I will continue to participate my way...not yours...let's separate and let the conversation continue as it should...about RPI Hockey...

My impression of the team this year is that January will tell the story as to whether the team will begin to break through...can any of you guys give me some updates on which players are 'breaking out' for the second half of the season?

Wholly disagree. I for one welcome babo's excellent contributions!

I added RPI's recruits to RPI TV's hockey player database, and here are their Stats Cards that I would use during RPI TV broadcasts.

I'm unsure what Greg's year will be next season; I assume he'll be listed as a junior? I'm not clear on the eligibility rules.

I'm looking forward to official RPI head shots, some of these photos aren't the best =)

They don't look bad at all. Greg will probably be listed as a Junior, but he will have sophomore eligibility.

Edit: Bailen will probably be listed as a soph since he played last year for BGSU.

Thank you for putting a picture with the stats for each recruit.
It's a nice touch to include them.

Luke may not need it, but this thread appreciates the inside information that a parent can provide.
A lot of questions come up about a recruit that can only be answered by an insider.
We are starved for infromation and I for one hope that you have not alienated babo.

Did I not just read on your post in Scores and Updates for the Michigan game....stay out of the penalty box? That was my point about the video and my comments. When I am not at the games I follow online although I do not post while following the game. How much time is spent posting on the penalties this team takes or receives?

Dispatch an enemy?
