Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Here's a fun little piece of video that shows some of Luke's work...if you wish to get directly to his segment, FF to about the 2:15 mark and watch closely. You may need to rewind once to catch the Scott Steven's like delivery...enjoy:

Babo: I love the hit way more than the fight! We need that kid of attitude on our blueline ! :D Gotta love how Mc Gill attempts to talk smack in the bin all the while the left side of his face appears as if he ran into a wall. :D

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I went back and read what you have all posted...I must thank you for the warm welcome I feel (...and have relayed to Rich, who hasn't much time for blogging)...
As soon as I know which game we can attend (Nothing concrete yet...I spend my life in suspended anticipation:rolleyes: ...), I will let you all know...now I INSIST on a toast to our new alliance, allegiance, all in all! But I confess I already followed Doc's lead and yes, the VG Caramel IS special!

WS: the hit in that video was the main attraction...that requires a bit of skill...the fighting? Not so much and not for 4 more years...:D

I dropped Luke off at the airport this morning and he is very anxious to illustrate to SA and staff that he is up to the task of joining in 2010!

Fighting better not be the main attraction, because in the NCAA you get match penalties for fighting. And when you play for RPI, even inadvertently losing a glove is considered fighting. I hope Luke doesn't get easily frustrated, because the refs in the ECAC call 2 minutes for wearing cherry and white.

I look forward to seeing Luke play while wearing cherry and white! :)

Glad you enoyed the Dutch Caramel-it is my other half's favorite (JennyRN). I am just a plain vodka kind of guy but that VG flavor is indeed special. Here's hoping we have lots to celebrate. :)

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

On Sunday, the Burlington Cougars defeated the Ajax Attack 5-4. Patrick Koudys had two butt ending penalties and an abuse of offiscials minor penalty. http://cchl.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1090070

Koudys's line is now 35-4-22-26-28.

How is this possible with all penalties in the same period?
Burlington - Patrick Koudys - (Butt-Ending) (BUTT), 2 min, 12:31
Burlington - Patrick Marsh - (Abuse of Officials Misconduct) (M21), 10 min, 12:45
Burlington - Patrick Koudys - (Butt-Ending) (BUTT), 2 min, 14:31
I can see him getting the abuse penalty while in the penalty box, but did he get a second buttending penalty while still in the penalty box? It boggles the mind.

Ralph - the abuse of officials penalty, according to the box score, was assessed to Patrick Marsh, not Patrick Koudys. Extremely odd that Koudys was assessed another butt-ending penalty exactly 2 minutes after his first penalty. Leads me to believe he was assessed a double-minor and it's recorded awkwardly on the box score.

I have to improve my reading comprehension. :o I suspect that you are correct that it was a double minor for butt-ending.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Butt-ending is only a double in juniors? I thought it was a major, in both college and the NHL.

Nice initial hit but not impressed with what the rest of the video showed- hope that attitude isn't coming with him to RPI -the ECAC will not put up with a cross look let alone a cross punch.

Nah, they'll give him 2 minutes for wearing cherry and white. But hey, we need a good replacement for Burgdoerfer, someone that can give the actual definition of a "boarding" call.

Exactly-some times we get 2 minutes called just for showing up. Lots of reputation calls in the ECAC. You just know the refs and linesmen sit in that little dressing room before the game and discuss how they are going to call it. So far this year though, I must admit, we have not been getting nailed with that many calls.

As has been stated here before, the USHL is a fighting league and their team's kid came after Curadi after the hit...the whole hockey honor thing.

I for one sure as heck hope Luke brings that atttitude.. He's more than smart enough to know that in the ECAC, a fight will not commence after such beautiful hits. :D

He came all the way to British Columbia from the USHL after the hit? :p

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

Thanks for jinxing it, DrD.

And plus, I don't think Luke initiates fights. After all, who in their right mind would want to fight him? Yes he's had a few fisticuffs, but usually those people are dumb. Like the video shown earlier.
