Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

On Sunday, the Cornwall Colts lost to the Ottawa Senators 5-3. Jacob Laliberté did not dress. http://cjhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1048172
Laliberté's line is now 30-38-30-68-16.
They seem to really miss him. Hope he is back soon.

Not everyone gets into a fight in an All Star game.
Me too. It is interesting that the Cornwall newspaper article about the game did not mention why he was not playing. It didn't even mention his name. http://www.standard-freeholder.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2230333
Definitely, if you go by offensive stats. I can't tell about his defensive work from the box scores.
Sure doesn't smell right ...If he were hurt I would assume they'd have mentioned it. But then again we're talking about the S-F...they're not exactly lighting the world on fire in the journalism world.![]()
True enough. The Orangevile website sure isn't any help, their most recent news update to their site was March 2009. Amazing. No game recaps, no roster or team stats...kinda makes you wonder why they bother having a site at all.![]()
I suppose that one could calculate the +/- from the box scores and compare it to other dmen.
New to your thread...hope you all don't mind my 2 cents...I have been following the talk of Curadi and I can tell you that he DID jump the gun on his commitment to UMASS last year (great school, coaches, program... but the aspirations from a family standpoint were more in keeping with what RPI offers...enough said).
As far as Curadi being fickle...not so. The Lincoln Stars of the USHL had a league requirement to contact Curadi within 48 hours after drafting him. The staff took over a week to do so and were somewhat dismissive. When Luke was gracious in telling them of his decision to go to Penticton, the reaction was dismissive as well. Penticton? Best decision Luke made in his development... Harbinson is a top notch coach and mentor.
Penalties...is he a wild man? No sir. Wicked Slappahs...you have uncanny insight! Luke arrived in the BCHL and spent the first month or so looking over his shoulder as the Canadian boys made their 'gentlemanly inquiries' into his legitimacy as a big man...as the Vees blogger Ryan Pinder (also the play-by-play man for games) said after one incident, "Don't poke the Bear!!!" Luke will throw himself on the grenade for the team and knows when to get nasty...but his priority is to play high level hockey. Watch him...he will show you that.
The Knowlton connection: Luke's Dad, Rich, played against the Colonel in college (I was there) but we had no knowledge of, nor connection to, that for our purposes here...we found out about that irony during the recent official visit. Does it warm the cockles of our hearts to know there is a common bond? You betcha'!
Full disclosure: I am Luke's Mom (I know...groans all around!!!). But I am a student of the game. I don't know enough to even be dangerous but I know enough after 30+ years to discuss it. You guys are ALL above the fray in knowledge and I got THE biggest kick 'watching' you deduce who Luke was after his visit.
I vow: never to be politically correct. I will participate in enthusiastic discussion of the team. I will NEVER be a 'MOM' about Luke's play (HE can vouch for that). And I CANNOT WAIT to see him play for RPI...whenever that may be!
Dr. Demento: Vodka? YES!!! Chocolate Vodka? Not so much...
Welcome aboard. It's good to have a hockey parent here.
Trying to deduce who players are from partial descriptions is fun.Recruits don't seem to wear team jackets on visits often these days which makes it more difficult.
If I may ask, for which school did your husband play hockey? IIRC, Jim Knowlton played hockey in the period when Army played a mostly D-III schedule, which makes it most likely that he played for a D-III school.
Rich played for Iona (we met there), which eliminated it's hockey program a few years back..
Did you mean to say gist instead of just?
I understood the gist of your post - implying that Laliberté bailing on his teammates was not true. I am suggesting you wait before dismissing it as a "false hockey rumour" because it is possible it is true.
So the results showed considering the Colts' top gun, captain Jacob Laliberte wasn't available due to the 'flu.'
"We're sticking with the flu," MacInnis replied to the impliction the absence was not health related.

Great to have you join the threads-Anyone here will tell you I am the advocate of having all the boys be about 6'5 and 250 and have said so for years(even some of the forwards). But the vodka-never chocolate. Having celebrated RPI hockey goals and victories for over 45 years(with vodka gimlets usually-chopin or ultimat vodka) I have now switched to Van Gogh Dutch Caramel-I am not a big fan of the flavored stuff but this one is special. One taste, and you are hooked. Smooth doesn't even come close to describing it. Jenny and I attended virtually every home game and most road games from the 70's through 2002. We don't make the commute as often anymore but we still celebrate every goal. For the first time in a long time-the future is very bright!!
You have no idea how happy Luke is with his choice (not to mention Rich and me!)
