Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

I was going by the roster that RPI has on RPIAthletics.com, which is what CHS.net also reports.

No matter, the D-men aren't going to be tiny guys and we'll be firmly under Appert's system, setting us up for some improvement. I'm really really happy, but trying to temper my excitement so my optimism doesn't get the best of me.

Burgie, could you explain? As far as I can tell the roster at RPIAthletics.com does include recruits like Bailen. They did include Greg Burgdoerfer, because he is practicing with the team although he isn't eligible to play this season. As to CHS.net, why should Bailen be listed on a Tennessee medical page?

It sounds like it is still up in the air as to wether Curadi will be in Troy next year or stay in the BCHL for another year.

http://pentictonvees.podbean.com/

His Coach talks about the commitment at about 6 minutes in.

Given this (Harbinson, BTW, is a former SCSU assistant, so he's got the ties to the college game), I have to think we're in deep on another D-man that might come in 2010, and if we land him, we'll see Curadi in 2011 instead.

I never get tired of saying that this team is in a good position either way. Here's another case of it.

There I go sticking my foot in my mouth again. I didn't look at the sizes of any of the recruits, just the current players. I knew that we had a couple big guys coming in, and I didn't recall any discussion on Bailen's size (larger or otherwise). Basically, I didn't do my homework.

And, CHS.net = collegehockeystats.net

ETA: And, I misread your original Bailen comment. I scanned over it quickly and saw a "B"... I jumped to Brutlag. Again, foot meet mouth.

64 penalty minutes?! I'm glad we're getting a big bruiser into RPI, but I'm not so sure about that stat. I hope it's due to aggressive play, and not just getting T'd off.

Got it. :)

I agree, and if the other dman is Scott, which I think it is, than Scott has to be for 2010 because his 5-years-to-play-4 clock is ticking.

Then again, I think that it was you who earlier made the point that Curadi was originally intending to go to college this year at UMA, so it might be unlikely that he would delay for two years.

Keep in mind that he's playing in a league with fighting, and being that he's a rookie coupled with the fact that he's biggest dude on the ice, guys will come looking for you. My guess is that many of those minutes are from fights...for about 1.8 PIMs/game. I haven't seen anything to suggest he is a loose cannon... a la Nickerson.

FWIW - Nick Bailen is averaging about 1.6 PIMs. per game in the USHL

OK, that explains things. I'm assuming fisticuffs results in a game misconduct rather than just a straight 5 minutes, therefore 15 minutes per fight..... it makes a lot more sense.

Curadi didn't get a misconduct with his fighting peanlty yesterday http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/hockey_boxScores.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&gameID=712817. Also misconducts don't appear to add 10 minutes to the penalty total.

Re: RPI Recruiting II: Knowlton's Rangers (enlistments open)

It appears not dressing is the only way to keep him off the scoresheet;)

He has scored in 29 consecutive games that he has played in for Cornwall, missing only the opening game of the season.
