AUSTIN, Minn. – The Austin Bruins haven’t dropped the puck yet on their 11th season in the North American Hockey League, but they already have their first commitment of the season. Forward Sutter Muzzatti announced his commitment to play his collegiate hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I) on Wednesday.

Muzzatti, 17, will begin his first full junior season with the Bruins in 2020-21 following three years in the Meijer AAA program where he averaged more than a point-per-game with 19 total tallies (14G, 5A) in 17 contests. The 6-foot-5, 203-pound forward made his junior hockey debut last season playing in two games for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL but is still looking for his first point in juniors.

“Both Austin and RPI have strong hockey traditions which I am excited to be a part of,” said Muzzatti. “I consider Austin to be a great stepping-stone for players headed to the NCAA.”

Muzzatti is the third Bruins player in three years to commit to RPI including former defensemen Dylan Davies and former netminder Brett Miller, both of whom begin their collegiate careers this season.

“We are really excited for Sutter and his family,’ said Bruins Head Coach Steve Howard. “He’s a hard-working kid that is eager to learn. We expect Sutter to continue to develop and become an impact player for the Bruins.”

A native of Okemos, MI, Muzzatti is the son of Carolina Hurricanes Goaltending Coach, Jason Muzzatti, who played his collegiate years at Michigan State before logging 62 games in the NHL. In total, the Bruins now have seven committed players on their roster including Ben Dexheimer (Miami-Ohio), Alex Trombley (Ohio State), Barrett Brooks (Western Michigan), Carson Riddle (Western Michigan), Connor Mylymok (Alaska-Fairbanks), and Frank Dovorany (Michigan Tech).

The black-and-gold get set to start their 2020-21 campaign this weekend with a pair of games on the road against the Aberdeen Wings before returning to Riverside Arena and hosting the Janesville Jets on Friday, November 13, and Saturday, November 14 for the team’s home-opening weekend. Tickets for all of the Bruins home games, opening weekend and beyond, are on sale now by visiting www.austinbruins.com/single-game-tickets. All fans attending the game Friday, November 13 will receive a free Bruins cowbell thanks to our friends at Qdoba.

I hope that Muzzatti knows on 11/13 and 11/14 that 5'7" Max Itagaki is a future teammate. :-D

Surprised Muzzatti is only a 3.50. He almost made the USHL as an '03. I think he'll be a guy who moves up to 3.75. Ralph, with Ciccarello, we now have 5 forwards projected to be 2021 enrollees along with McDonald at D and Watson at G. We only have 4 seniors. How do you think that shakes out?

he went from 3.00 to 3.50 during 2019. i would not be surprised if he is raised again soon.

We won't be able to see how Muzzatti performs in the NAHL for at least one more week.

AUSTIN, Minn. – The Austin Bruins and Aberdeen Wings have announced a change in their schedules following complications due to COVID-19. The weekend series which was originally scheduled for this weekend in Aberdeen, November 6, and November 7, will now be played on March 30 and March 31, 2021. This action was taken in an abundance of caution in an effort to operate as safely as possible for teams’ players, staff, and fans.

Following the postponement, the Bruins 2020-21 regular season is will now begin with their two-game series against the Janesville Jets on Friday, November 13, and Saturday, November 14. It will mark the second time in back-to-back years that the Bruins will open their regular season, showcase notwithstanding, at Riverside Arena. It’s also the first time in three years that the Bruins will play Janesville in a regular-season game outside of the NAHL Showcase. The two teams met in 2019-20’s NAHL Showcase with Janesville coming out on top, 4-0.

Tickets for the Bruins home-opener, and now season-opener, are on sale now at www.austinbruins.com/single-tickets and all fans in attendance to Friday night’s game will get a free Bruins cowbell courtesy of Qdoba.

Sezaneck,

Forgot to answer this. We have 2 senior forwards, assuming they and only they are gone, my cut feeling is that Brown, Ciccarello, and Leibold show up increasing the count by one. However, we could lose someone to early graduation, or someone just leaves.
I have a hard time believing that Fawkes or Itagaki will be ready, but that doesn't mean they won't show up.

Or they forgot to do the wash

The Generals play two more road games tomorrow and Saturday. In these days of Covid-19, if they don't do the wash between games, I wouldn't want to wear the same uniform which someone else just wore. Actually, I would never want to wear the uniform which someone else just wore. :-D

What i meant was that they could have not done the wash on some of the uniforms but #8 had been one of those that was done. That would leave it as one of the few that someone could wear. Your take on my post was a bit different. Sort of reminds me of a very old joke about George Washington addressing the troops with good and bad news.
Addressing the men after a particularly harsh winter he says "Men, I realize that this has been the hardest and coldest winter ever and that we have been so short on supplies that you have not even been able to change your underwear. But I have good and bad news for you. First, the good, you can now change your underwear. The bad, Smith you can change with Jones, Collins you can change with Adams....... "

An OJHL game going on now has a box score, so I suspect that Collingwood's will show up this evening.

More good news for DrD. :-) Payton Robinson has grown an inch and added ten pounds since last season. http://ojhl_stats.wttstats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=11446425&seasonid=20361

Thanks for the post RB - love that kind of news. I have looked over many of the potential recruit lists and we seem to compare quite favorably as to size with most schools. I like to see that because I have little knowledge about comparing talent levels.
