Over the years we have had quite a few speedy players whose speed who didn't do much with it, such as Askew whom you mentioned to Rojic a couple of years ago.OK-we are back in sync. But we almost always are anyway. I do believe in teaching skating technique and some emphasis on power skating but as you mentioned, it is rare to see the Kelly Askews not just for us in Troy, but anywhere in college hockey. Not sure what the underlying gift is but some of the boys certainly have it. of course it is not the end all attribute. As many of us recall, Askew was perhaps the quickest and also the fastest around but often could not control that speed or the have the puck handling to go with it. Also, the speed is almost useless if it is not used properly by the coaches.
