Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2014-15 Part II

What was the last year for JV? We still had one in '82, playing an abbreviated schedule of prep schools and a few other JV teams. Does anyone have a JV these days?

Some of the Ivies had them a few years ago.

Actually, I was relying on memory. I knew I knew the name but as time goes bye what seemed like 2-3 yrs. ago is actually 4-5. I should’ve did some searching first before posting. Lesson learned :)

I have never learned that lesson. :)

The club team could unofficially be considered our JV team, I suppose. Although I don't know if loaning and recalling between the club and varsity status is allowed.

I thought of that. We got Goodman from the club team. The thing is that our club team is a D-II club team. These players are probably too good for that.

“It’s gone more than I’d hoped for,” said Dillon, who is 6-foot-5 and 175 pounds. “I’m the new guy, and being a guy staying away from home (for the first time). I can’t say enough for the organization drafting me first of all and having so much faith in me this whole season.”..... http://www.theindependent.com/sport...cle_8afb4fec-e7d8-11e4-afbf-57a92cc5d8b9.html

Another article about AD http://www.kearneyhub.com/sports/lo...0-e9cf-11e4-8fb5-27fe18b2106f.html?mode=story including some discussion of the penalties which he incurred with 10 seconds left in his last game.

“Size is only so much,” Pedrie said. “You can’t really teach great goaltending. He’s one of those great goalies that in any situation, you can rely on him.”

I almost always rely on memory. Which with aging is becoming somewhat more difficult to do. The reason i do not search and look up things is simple-I am not sure where or how to do it most times. This is why I log in here and pose the question for the young guns to help with. BTW does it not seem like we are doing a little stock piling of recruits? I cannot remember ever have a list this long with perhaps 10 coming in at one time.

Everybody is recruiting more in the future, Also, I doubt that all 10 whom I have listed as coming in 2015 will indeed be in Troy in the fall. Moore, Wiffen, Clary, Grant, and Orvall are all 94s and have used up their Junior eligibility, so they will arrive. It would surprise me if one forward and one defenseman listed as 2015 delays -- that is assuming someone doesn't leave.

BTW the five '94s as well as Fornaris will all be older than I was when I graduated RPI when they arrive in the fall (assuming Fornaris is coming).

That's a good problem to have, as not only will it give us depth in upcoming years, but a backstop in case our players decide to advance to the professional level leaving remaining eligibility.

Maybe it’s just the frustration of the last several years but I can’t shake this feeling that something just isn’t right with all the recent commits (ie, 94s). Time will tell I guess.

I have certainly wondered if Nanne is going to bolt.

Where there is smoke....... You do not necessarily have to be a drafted player to bolt. You do not even have to have had a wonderful year with super statistics to leave. There are a lot of reasons when you are a 22-24 year old to try to make money while the sun is shining. it must weigh on every player's mind that an injury during a year at college could end any chance of a future career. You can always return to college for a degree. But if you get hurt, you cannot count on a future in professional sports. In this money centered society, nothing would surprise me. We have seen it before and it will happen again.

I think at this time it is more likely that players will leave to transfer elsewhere.

....actually it was a 2-1 loss for Fairbanks but that really doesn’t matter where we’re concerned.
