Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

Not a comparison i can make-Pirri was just about our highest ranked recruit by most scouting. D'Amigo not all that far behind. These boys are a bit lower on the radar but I suspect have a considerable upside potential. I had indicated this years ago with big #5 when others were not very impressed. Some boys just have that certain something-whatever it is. This is not to say they will be NHL draftees or succeed at that level-but they can be serious contributors at the NCAA level. I know far more about DM than ET who i have never seen personally. This recruit class seems pretty fair-but they have some shoes to fill as we are losing some excellent role players. Higgs, tinordi and Rogic may not be our highest scorers but they work hard and I appreciate their efforts. i hope our forwards coming in can work just as hard.
I don't see anyone who can fill Tinordi's role among the recruits unless it is Nanne.

I have no clue with Nanne. He is a true enigma rapped in a rebus. He has shown us very little so far. Information I have indicates he has considerable talent and could be a big upside surprise at the NCAA level. I just have not seen anything to even remotely show that. Perhaps this is going to be one of those cases that we find out how good SA is at bring out the best in someone.

I think you are right on the money with Tinordi. A classic case of stats not truly showing value. He has size and he uses it well. He is a solid two way player much in the same way Joel Malchuk was. it is not always about G's and A's. I would like to see some basic stats on our new recruits that are not easy for me to find-example-we need a couple of guys who win face offs when it counts(not the face offs at center ice at the start of a period or after a goal). I wish there was a stat that could give an indication of how well someone can forecheck-how many seconds they make a team waste trying to get out of theri own zone, how often they are able to clear the puck from our zone when killing a penalty, etc. I can only get that kind of information by watching a player multiple times. I am sure those who scout these kids for a living can do it with one game and a few shifts-I am just not that hockey savvy-I have to see them several times against several opponents.

I suspect that Nanne has not completely recovered from his two shoulder injuries. His stats were not bad last year in the BCHL. I know that I saw some games on line when he was in HS two years ago, but I was not paying attention to him and he didn't stand out.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

On Tuesday, the Fargo Force lost to the Sioux Falls Stampede 4-1. Meirs Moore had no points or penalties. Louis Nanne had no points or penalties. http://ushl2011.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2235098

Moore's Fargo line is now 18-2-1-3-10.
His total is 29-2-1-3-14.
Nanne's line is now 18-0-2-2-8.
Surprised to see MM's new team mate made it to the game so fast. Former Alb. Acad. star, Tyler Hynes was released by Omaha yesterday to make room for 2 new players and picked up by Fargo

Good to see Union recruits also being released. :)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2013-14 (Part II)

after the TU debacle I refuse to use that teams' name any longer.

Off topic response:

Do you mean Pepsi Arena? All I recently saw in the TU was an interview with Mat Bodie.

BTW, I was thinking soon after it happened that I would type B*nn*t from then on, but I decided to put him on double secret probation instead. ;)

You should know by now that it's now the Times Union Center. I think that's what he means.

But I will probably get it wrong the next time too. It's a problem with old age -- one lives in the past. :D

Or one suffers from Korsakoff's Psychosis. Have you been taking your Vitamin B1 as you should???

Yes, Times Union Center. A friend of mine still refers to it as, "The Knickabacker Arena".
