RPI Scout was at Wednesday's Cedar Rapids Roughriders vs Lincoln Stars game. I have been told he was in Cedar Rapids lockerroom talking to Clark Kuster '95 offensive defenseman.

Thanks for the heads-up. His page http://ushl2011.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=6438503&seasonid=9358. Interesting if we got both him and Manley in 2014 to replace LeBoeuf and Dolan. Of course, viewing those two plus Reno to replace Bailen, LeBoeuf, and Dolan fits much better, and that could be what SA is thinking.

1st Rd. pick (22nd overall) by Cedar Rapids out of the St. Louis Blues AAA (REDaero will like that).

Perhaps a 2014 possibility, based upon age and need for D-men?

If I had to guess by watching him, he would need another year in the USHL. While he is progressing, he needs to understand defensive responsibilities a little more.

Here is the highlight video from Wednesday. At the 1:14 mark Kuster shows a quick wrister from the point that finds the net.

That second video really makes it looks like he would fit in well as a replacement for Bailen. Also a nice goal by Bourbonnais later in that video. Thanks again.

Of course, just talking to a player might only be to feel him out as to interest.


Edit: SA mentioned on a tweet on Thursday that he was going to go recruiting and on Friday that he was doing so, so it was someone else representing RPI on Wednesday.

Early reports here and the postings seem to indicate our defense will be getting smaller(unless some of these boys are late sprouters;))

The coaches probably speak to a lot of players, so we really don't know at this point if there is any genuine interest in Kuster. However, it does seem that you are correct in the near term. OTOH, the defense had been getting bigger the last few years. I am more concerend that we still don't seem to have a talented big man at forward to clog up the middle.
