Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Hopefully he also will grow. I have trouble believing that a 5'7" 150 lb d-man will be successful at either the USHL or NCAA level. waterloo is playing ton ight as indicated in the post you quoted. Also Omaha is playing Lincoln.
Melanson with a goal (I believe it was still on the PP) as Omaha takes a 1-0 lead over Lincoln.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Jake Wood with the assist as Lincoln cuts Omaha's lead to 2-1. There was only 1 assist given on Omaha's 2nd goal but I thought for sure DM had a hand in the play, maybe an assist will be given later.

Over the past few years i have not gotten to see many of our prospects very often. Turk-you are going to like this kid. You are going to like him a lot.:)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

I'm certainly looking forward to it Doc. Doc, do you know the proper pronunciation of Melanson? Is it, Mellon-son (that's the way the radio guys are saying it) or Meh-lahn-son?

I have heard the second way several times, but it might be because others pronounce it that way.

gonna have to find the video for Melanson's GWG in the SO. Apparently he fell when picking up the puck at center ice :o

Now that is interesting. It goes well with his celebration on his first goal early in the year. As a klutz myself, I appreciate that. :)

Lincoln's HC didn't. PxP guy said he was irate on the bench that DM was allowed to continue with his attempt. I think DM's line should be 16-4-2-6 RB.

I noticed that missing assist from an earlier game and had fixed it a couple of mintues ago. Thanks for also pointing it out. It seems that the USHL does a lot of after-game switching. (I think that hoky attributes it to parents. :) )

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Nice. :) I am pretty sure that the rule is you have to continually skate towards the goal, but that probably only applies after touching the puck, and it looked like he didn't actually touch it before falling.

BTW, I am too lazy to look, but I am 99% sure that when he was interviewed after scoring the first goal of the USHL season, the interviewer used Meh-lahn-son, and he didnt correct it.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

Question. If you look at the Game Live details of the Omaha-Lincoln game at http://www.pointstreak.com/flashapp...977980&wttlink=ushl2011.stats.pointstreak.com. they have awarded Melanson a goal for scoring the deciding goal in the shootout. (It says it's his fifth goal and a line of 16-5-2-7.) Yet on the team stats page http://ushl2011.stats.pointstreak.com/teamplayerstats.html?teamid=3137&seasonid=9358, he is still at 4 goals. Does anyone know if the winning shootout goal is considered a goal in the stats? (I am not asking if people think it should count, just does it count?)

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2012-13

I'm certainly looking forward to it Doc. Doc, do you know the proper pronunciation of Melanson? Is it, Mellon-son (that's the way the radio guys are saying it) or Meh-lahn-son?

At Delbarton it was almost always pronounced the second way(Accented second syllable). But when you hear others talking about him-then you hear the other pronunciation. If he can score for us like I think he will-we will get to hear it alot.:)
