Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

I don't think that will be a problem. Note that there are early 1991 on CH's list for this season (e.g. check Union ;) ). He loses a year of eligibility of he plays Junior after he turns 21 which isn't until next May. (And he can get around that by taking classes in a college in a degree program and not playing hockey there. He'll only lose the chance or red shirting in the future.) The problem is that I really doubt that his "family advisor" would advise that route.
Thats right. But for the pesky detail of being a draft pick ( and the added "advice" these draft kids get), there's no reason in the world he couldn't return to the USHL next year... on a more competitive squad hopefully . The fact that he does not appear to have quickly adjustedl to the jump in competition in the USHL, makes me think Seth has a shot at deferring him.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

Sounds like Bokenfohr is a decent pickup, heres some scouts comments on him prior to the 2010 WJAC.

http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/newsletter.cfm?page=48187&clientID=1413&leagueID=2393

Also fwiw, he's a right shot Dman, I believe Bailen is the only other right shot Dman currently on the RPI roster.
Great find Red. That's some pretty good company the big man is mentioned with. With those comments, I have to think we beat out some pretty good schools for him. (hopefully we'll hear about them)Looking forward to seeing him in Troy.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

It does make a difference, and I certainly don't know how the money is split. I have always guessed that Rabbani was getting minority student money, and it is doubtful that any of the new recruits will. I am almost certain now that Bergin is leaving....
I think its more than safe to assume that any permutation of academic/programatic /athletic funding that allows a coach to stretch scholly money is being utilized...etc.

I am not sure when Delbarton's next game is. The schedule posted said Saturday, but it also said that the semis would be Thursday.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

Their likely opponent Don Bosco Prep plays today-against a very good Christian Brothers Academy team who could be real trouble for them. The finals were scheduled for Friday 2/24 originally but I think they have been either moved or were incorrectly posted earlier and are now scheduled for Saturday 2/25. The NJ State tournaments all start on 2/28 in 3 divisions-Private, Public A and Public B. Delbarton already has been given a bye in the first round and does not play on 2/28 like everyon else will. They start in the second round which I believe is 3/1 and the tournament culminates 3/9 with 3 champions for the 3 divisions. In the old days the Private school champ met the Public school champ in a playoff at the Meadowlands-something i wish would happen again. There has been some talk about it but it is not scheduled for this year.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

that's better than this camrose fan (sounds like some rpi fans) http://hockeytalk.net/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?t=9761#p83328

please tell me....is it just me or is craig bokenfohr the weakest defensemen in the league? Im taking about turn overs, scared to get hit, scared to give a hit etc. Im really sorry kodiak fans and i will still continue to go to games as long as there is a team in camrose but this is the worst defensive core i have seen in my 7 years watching.

Sounds to me like he will fit right in, he won't have to learn the RPI system since he already knows it.

If you don't like it, there's this school about an hour south of me that has D-I hockey that might pique your interest. In fact, you won't even have to worry about switching to a different color scheme! -_-

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

I was watching some Vaughan game highlights from this year on youtube and I think you are correct that 5'9" is quite generous. Fulton scores the first two goals in this highlight clip.

I am a little curious as to why RPI is bringing in another smaller sized centerman. We already have McGowan, JL, Neal, Higgs and Rogic that have played center this season and as far as I know Bourbonnais and Miller are also centers. I hope this is just SA adding some depth and that were not losing someone from the current roster.

Sounds like he wants a finesse team, and not a "squish the midget" team. Using Yale as a benchmark, mayhaps?

My thoughts exactly. A team of smurfs is not exactly my idea of having the size to compete with the bigger teams. The 2 latest pick ups have me thinking about some sudden losses that could have just surfaced(perhaps one on defense and one at forward). After all, the scholarship money we have available from teh seniors leaving this year is just not unlimited. I know kids can grow considerably but when Fulton was with the NJ Rockets back in 2005-6 people here remember him as being about 5" even and about 90 pounds as a Bantam. (but that was 6 years ago!)

Ignore him.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

As for next season, I would be surprised to see three scholarship goalies. My guess would be that if they bring in Kasdorf, or soemone else, that Diebold would leave.

...buh? Why?

Yeah - that makes sense, just live with it, don't try to fix it or improve it, just enjoy it or leave and find another team. Thanks for the advice.

I think that SA believes that centers can always be moved to the wing. Furthermore, having a lot of centers on the cie helps with a certain offiical who likes to throw people out of faceoffs.
