Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

Per USHR, the Gordon Conference All-Stars were announced and it was almost a clean sweep for Delbarton. Drew Melanson was a first team selection along with teammates F-Baiocco, D-Muratore(league MVP), D-Davis and G-Phinney. Don Bosco Prep nearly had a second team sweep.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

Not that surprised, considering RPI just got a commitment from a Dman earlier this week. Unless SA is looking for yet another Dman to bring in next season, in case we lose someone else besides Bergin on the blueline(#29).
or #4

All well deserved-they are the class teams of the prep schools here in NJ. Baiocco will no doubt be a good one for Yale and i fully expect that both Agostinos will end up there in a couple years. The interesting thing is Delbarton has already reloaded-their younger classes are already NCAA prospects. We have yet to be at one of their games where we do not see someone representing either a college or even the NHL. Don Bosco is no slouch but talent wise, just a couple steps behind Delbarton. The third Prep we see a lot of is Christian Brothers Academy and if not for these other 2 schools, they would garner a lot more attention.

Far more likely the latter. I don't see #29 going yet-but you never know. As to #4- being a drafted player entails some outside controls. As we learned with Pirri and D'Amigo-anything can happen at any time and who iknows what is going on with the Washington Capitols.

Re: RPI Recruit Thread 2011-12 Part II

Some players can overcome there size; so can't. We'll have to see about Fulton.

Zalewski certainly has size, but at a listed 5'10", I wouldn't call Bourbonnais big (unless you are referring to the size of his name plate. ;) ).
Yes he's 5'10 and 191lbs. Which is roughly the size of guys like Austin Smith, Jerry D'Amigo, Eric Healey, etc.

I guess the point I was making - one that you and RH stated more succinctly - is that some kids play bigger than their size. Fulton certainly seems to me to be a kid who plays bigger thanhis stats, and he knows how to finish.

Of course, it should go without saying -just as it does in every "projection" based game - you NEVER know with any certainty how a player will develop.

Lest the hang wringers here fail to mention, along with a torrid C.J. Lee, our best skaters on the ice last night were freshman: Diebold (should've gotten the 1, 2 and # stars IMO), Haggerty, McGowan, Laliberte, Shroeder, Leonard, etc.

Big road win no matter how you slice it. Colgate still searching for one point to secure a 1st rnd bye. They wanted that game and we took it from them.

Doc, I'm not certain, but I think RH might've been referring to Bailen moving up to forward a la Brutlag..not sure tho.

As for Koudys, did I miss an injury or has Appert not been dressing him?

He seems like a healthy scratch, especially since he played last week on senior night.

With 2 D coming in and possibly just one moving on (Bergin pending redshirt), I wouldn't be surprised if it's a hedge against Koudys leaving.

Actually, I only brought up Bailen because he has had some pro interest being invited to a couple NHL development camps last summer (Sabres+Leafs). He would also have been a senior this year if he didnt transfer out of BGSU. If he has enough pro interest, he could decide to make the jump. Probably just me over thinking things but there is that chance.

From everything I have read, Fulton does indeed play bigger than his size.

I don't think that there is a big chance, although it is only a gut feeling. Although there may be pro interst in him, I doubt that they are panting over him, due to his size.

Makes a lot of sense-but I would think he was in a strong bargaining position after last season. The interest was certainly there and he could have had an offer made. Obviously he stayed-I think he will finish out his career in Troy-and for that matter have a great next year.
