The fact that Kasdorf has shown up in the directory does not mean that he will necessarily be in Troy in the fall as we found out a year ago with Bradley, Miller, and Zalewski. I do think that it means that he has been admitted which implies that he did sufficiently well on the SATs which was his problem a year ago. We could have three scholarship goalies, although I would be quite surprised if a total of more than two scholarships were being used on gaolies, i.e., they aren't all full athletic scholarships.

As to someone transferring, it is possible, but seems doubtful to me. I wouldn't expect Merriam to transfer before his senior season. That rarely happens. (Yes, I remember Matt Garver.) Diebold seems to have improved as the year progressed, so I doubt that he would transfer. I had thought that it was possible that Kasdorf would spend another year in the USHL, and it is still possible but less likely.

Regardless of when he arrives, I'm glad to see Kasdorf apparently has his academics in order.

I don't think that any coach wants to use three scholarships on goalies when there are only 18 to work with.

Kasdorf should have the most potential (at least the NHL scouts think so). And Diebold showed that he can play at the NCAA level. This is not a good situation for anyone.
I am sure that Appert saw this coming and has a plan, but I don't know how you manage this situation.

RPI target Anthony DiFruscia, who played this past season at Salisbury Prep, decided to sign with the OHL's Niagara IceDogs.

I don't recall NOT seeing Coupal at the away games I go to, just not dressed for the game. The team would certainly be in emergency-mode if one of the 2 goalies gets hurt in the morning skate & the 3rd is home in Troy.

Usually yes. I believe there is a league rule re: how many kids can dress for ECAC for road games...I might be mistaken. Merriam has been a model citizen for the program and its his job to lose. If all three show up, it will be interesting indeed. As for add'l d-men, I have no idea, but I haven't written off Bergin just yet. The fact that Appert didn't definitively say he was gone, leads me to a glimmer that he might be back. Prob a long shot, but theyre's no reason he couldn't do a year of grad school, a la Malchuk.
