On Saturday, the Omaha Lancers defeated the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 4-3 (3-2) in a shootout. Mark Miller had no points or penalties. Riley Bourbonnais had a hat trick. He was named #1 star.

I hope he saved most of his good moves for Troy. I have no personal knowldge about him at all-but have heard from 2 separate reliable sources that he has a considerable upside potential and should make a fine addition to the team. Although on paper this next group of recruits do not look as imposing as what we had coming last year at this time-the group is shaping up quite nicely. Looks like we are adding too lovely sized defensemen and at least 2 forwards who can be considered as offensive threats.

Exactly. I don't follow these kids anywhere as closely as you do RB. But i have acquaintances who do this as their profession. I was astonished to see how these kids are followed and charted sometimes from the age of 10 or 11. It is like they watch what they have for breakfast. There are always surprises since kids just do not all mature the same rate or even for reaching their same potential. I am merely a long term RPI fan who thinks with his heart more than his head. But more often than not-these 'scouts' and hockey savvy personnel really do know their stuff and their evaluations turn out to be right on the money. Witness the maturation of Matt Tinordi, Luke Curadi, and Mark McGowan. All of whom I had been advised had far more upside potential than most had thought. Of course there are always exceptions and unexpected occurrences (like Pirri and D'Amigo leaving very early). But for the most part the cream does eventually rise to the top.
