RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

Today is 17 September 2014. In honor of Milos Bubela and Hannah Behounek, there are 17 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 4 October 2014 for the start of next season.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

The link hasn't appeared yet to vote for RPI '85 but it should appear here in a few hours.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

Hey babo,

I'm sorry, but I'm not in a position this year to provide the cake. I still have the file that I sent to Vanilla Bean so they could put Puckman on it, so if you want it, let me know. I will try to attend the tailgate to meet everyone, but I'm afraid the cake has to be sacrificed by me this year.

No worries, Jericho...your presence, if you can make it is good enough for me...

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

I voted for RPI today. Of Course.

Now on the 20th or 21st I'm sure you will want to vote against Union and for the '60-61 Pioneers

There is one small problem, I have neither a Twitter nor a Facebook account, however I suspect that the general RPI community will agree with you.

....that probably cuts down half the people who would vote, generational thing.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

I'm back for the season!

What'd I miss?!

Executive summary of posts, plz, anyone?!

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

No Twitter, I have a 10 yr. old Tracfone that stays in my car. I started facebook years ago when I was the Youth Leader @ my church (the teens said, “you so have to”) but I rarely ever look at it anymore. So, I did vote :D

A related small problem. While I do have a Facebook account, when I went to vote, before my vote was cast I received a notice telling me that if I went ahead with my vote, information about my Facebook account would be sent to some other company (I'l have to try voting again to get the name of it, will edit this post later if/when I do). There was a promise that said company could not alter my information.

I decided not to proceed. Perhaps this practice is either quite common or is deemed to be innocuous by others?

This next comment is completely tangential and has nothing to do with voting for RPI on the NCAA website: Most of the time, if I am forced to post in a comments section using my facebook ID, I always uncheck the box that would otherwise also post said comment in Facebook. I don't want to get involved in lengthy discussions in facebook about politics or religion or the substance of my comment if it is about anything other than sports. There is too much controversy IMHO about trivial things. I even received snark for posting a favorable comment on 538 blog about the UConn women's basketball team.

Myself, I wouldn't vote against Union as much as I'd vote for '60-'61 Denver. IIRC, they are the only team to be in the all-time top ten in both team defense and team offense. I could see them vs RPI in the Finals.

Facebook eh? Rather have my face on a Milk Carton.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

I just noticed that the schedule on the RPIathletics website says the opponent for RPI's home games on January 2 and 3 will be "Miami (OH)."

Is someone afraid that RPI fans might not be aware that the Miami school with a hockey team is not the one in Florida?

I suspect that on Jan 2/3, some folks may have their minds more on Miami in Florida. (take note: tiny sunglasses)

You'd be surprised. Don't overestimate the common sense of an RPI student.
