RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

I'm thinking about returning for my red shirt Senior Year. It depends though.

I'm getting my jersey ready to wear as I type. Finally, a true hero of the RPI hockey family will make his return. Expect crowds in excess of 5,000 for each game and television rights fees to sky rocket....

Place kicker Andrew Franks hit a 58-yard field goal in an exhibition game on Saturday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0s6TsOAtPc.

Quite a blast.

I can remember RPI's kicker - I think his name was Larry Fairchild - launching a 40-yard field goal off the grass of the '86 Field to give the Engineers a 10-7 halftime lead against Drexel. The fans were thrilled that our guy actually made a field goal from that distance. (Unfortunately, Drexel came back in the second half, and the Tute lost, 20-10.)

Of course, that was back in the days when placekickers kicked with their toes, Drexel had a football team, and football was played on grass.

I realized how much times change when I checked the list of the eight schools in the Liberty League for football and found that only one (St. Lawrence) still plays home games on a grass field.

Re: RPI Offseason Thread: Six Languages of Drivel

was at HFH earlier and saw they have ENGINEERS spelled out on the glass (white background) on the east end (old stage). Lettering looks like this style (just Engineers).... http://www.rpiathletics.com/documents/2012/3/28/EP-Fitness.pdf?tab=engineerspridefitnessmembership
Here’s a picture of the banner.Actually, banner is probably the wrong word. It looked like the whole thing was separated to fit onto each individual pane of plexi-glass.... https://twitter.com/Haggerty39/status/507298735916064769/photo/1
