Yes, I was there. Although I was somewhat reticent to go, I knew my brother, who ranked the Red Sox and RPI Hockey as his co-favorite sports teams (with the Patriots 3rd) would have wanted us to be there. The Red Sox organization was fantastic, even surprising us by upgrading the tickets Harry bought several months ago to the owner's box adjacent to the Red Sox dugout. We talked about fond memories of many games attended with Harry, including at many at HFH, and just had fun for the first time in several weeks. My nephew also got some laughs from my descriptions of his father's D League exploits at the Frear Park rink. It was a very cathartic experience.
Thanks to all for the many kind comments about my brother. He loved his alma mater and would get back to Troy whenever possible. Even during this past season's 2nd semester struggles, he'd listen to almost every game even though the time difference to Kabul meant they were just ending about the time he needed to get up. I'd get an email or text with his assessment of the game. When the boys shock everybody with a better than expected season this year I'll believe each puck that trickled across the opponent's goal line or each shot on our goal that rings off the post probably got a little help from above.
