Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

RPI beats Norwich 20-7. The backup QB got a 91-yard rushing TD with a minute left to lock it up.
Interesting that it has been 50 years since we last played Norwich which was during the infamous losing streak coinciding with Myles Brand's attendance at RPI.

And of course, both you and I were there for some of that streak.:(

Hockey Line ends tonight! I never needed it for tickets, but I miss it all the same. I heard it was around the first side of the building last night, so it's well ahead of last year's mark.

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

Thanks for the link. The article states that only 3 ECAC players have ever received the award - all from Harvard. Anyone know why we weren't able to squeeze out a Hobey in '84 or '85 ?? Puppa ? Oates ? Must have gotten close !

Re: RPI Offseason Part II: Mindless Drivel.

I think one of the neat things about the ECAC is that the league is made up of 12 good to great academic institutions where sports comes secondary. The schools do not get the media attention for sports. Six of the schools are located in upstate/western NY in very obscure media markets. The league, fairly or not, has been thought of as the fourth best in college hockey for over two decades. I think last year's performance will go a long way in changing that mindset. I said in a previous article this summer that the ECAC is the only conference unaffected by conference realignment. That is a good thing and will help with stability and growth of conference as a whole.
