RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

I'm guessing there is a certain beer distributed around here but not so much in that neck of the woods that I'll need to bring? And yes, GLM, in case you sometimes drop an eye in here, Classic Amber is typically involved...

If yer referring to the pride of Chippewa Falls, then yes, you can buy Leinie's here. Though it ain't quite been the same since Jake sold out to Miller.

Can you get things other than Sunset Wheat? ;)
Had a summer shandie out by the pool just the other night -- supplied by my lady friend . Not my favorite flavor, but its hard to beat ice cold poolside on a hot day. Price Chopper has had 3-4 Leiney flavors intermittently for some time now. Olivers & Westmere Bev. stock flavors as well....the Miller distribution arm doing its thing.

I had to attempt to steer this thread to hockey talk although considering the thread title, perhaps I should not have. :)
Ok Ralph. More tidbits from Cornwall, with training camp roster shortening looming...

Coach MacInnis: "...Don’t know if you can call it a surprise but I really like how the local guys like Ross Craig, Benny Poirier, Andrew Ming and Tanner Spink have carried themselves,” he said.

I will steer it to hockey and God willing, I will be here in 3 years so everyone can tell me how wrong I am. (I hope this info is wrong). The move to Lake Placid is pretty much the last straw for SOME of the Ivies. Several AD's and or presidents looking to break away from ECAC and start a 6 team Ivy league. Conceding they will have to stay thru 2014-15 but look for some more news on this in the not to distant future.

I'm sure not gonna tell you you're wrong. For one, it sounds like this was info you heard from a source, and two, nothing surprises me any more with conference realignment. There are others more versed on I when it comes to league formation who are better able to comment on the viability of a six team league given today's super conference mindset. I personally think it would be a mistake, but thats jsut my two cents.

If that is the Ivies intent (as has been speculated), then the location of the ECAC tourney is fairly irrelevant...I dont see how signing a 3 yr tourney deal with Providence would've prevented/delayed things, if indeed it is inevitable.

Didn't you mean to post this on the Colgate thread? :p

I'm a little fuzzy on this but wasn't Eric Ming (Cornwall '08-'10) once on RPI's radar? I'm assuming Andrew (6'1 173lbs "96) is his brother/relative.

That is correct. I wanna say he was offered at one point. IIRC, he had a solid year in Kitchener last season.

I couldn't find the original Standard Freeloader article, but from http://www.standard-freeholder.com/2009/12/07/colts-ming-mulling-his-hockey-options
If you're into reading the tea leaves, Ming in the past has talked about playing at NCAA school RPI near Albany being a dream of his.

I don't recall if we ever knew for sure if he received an offer, and USCHO posts back that far were all purged.

That move would not surprise me, John. In fact, I would be very surprised if it did NOT happen in the next 2-3 years. All the more reason this league should've found a way to put the toruney in MSG, if in fact that was a legitimate option as reported in the New Haven Register last week.
