RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

With both Cornell and Union advancing, could the ECAC get a boost as a league? What if they continue and wind up in the frozen four?
Would any of this matter in the conference shifts that will be taking place next year?
What if one of them were to win the National Championship? Crazier things have happened.

I have never rooted for Cornell in the past 49 years-but love seeing them advance this year. We are one team they did not beat this season and for me that is a bit of a consolation. Cornell just knocked out a pretty good team to advance.

You may have seen it, but there is a thread that has been discussing these topics http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?100179-Ezac!!!!!!. There a few posts which actually are educated. :)

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Since Union is the arch-enemy can you cheer for them today?? And what about Cornell??

Today is 24 March 2012. There are 196 days (28 weeks) until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

Way too early for me to even consider a countdown.

I started this many years ago when RPI fans did into post much in the off-season, and the countdown was a method for keeping the thread on the front page. Now that is not necessary although it still sometimes happens that two countdown posts are consecutive in the thread.

I have trouble rooting for either team, but am happy that they each won a game. I would also like one to reach the FF, but I can't root for either.

I will root for Union. Mainly because I don't consider them a rival. I will not root for Cornell, but will only be moderately upset if they win.

I too can root for Union. If we are going to lose to a team five times in one season, I would like it to be the National Champion. As for Cornell, I can not root for them under any circumstances.

So... does anyone else think Seth cried himself to sleep last night? Given how in one year the team down the road has accomplished 10 times more than what we have in his entire tenure? I do. I almost did. Good for the league and all but it still stings.

I think the coaching staff is working hard on recruiting and making this team better. He likely feels enough pressure without thinking about what Any other team is doing. Hats off to the two ECAC teams that made the NCAA.

I like the way this RPI team is shaping up for next season. A lot contributed to this disappointing season. There were injuries to some of the young guys in the first half and, frankly, the seniors and juniors were mostly over rated. Stay healthy next year, get a little more consistency in goal and this team will be good next year and beyond.

True. Can't believe they were top 15 recruiting classes. One player (York) and two (Pirri and JDA) should not be thaaaat big as into carry an otherwise mediocre class to a place among the nation's elite.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012: An Off-Season to Be Optimistic

Crazy fact of the day: the ECAC is guaranteed an above 0.500 record in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1991.

If you only consider the final result of multi-game series (whether you advance or get sent home), then you have to go all the way back til 1989.

Congrats to Union and (ugh) Cornell for a solid representation of the conference this season.

Bergin was listed as a top defenseman for the class entering in 2008. When they list top classes, they always mention three players, and AAG was the other for the 2008 class and O'Grady for 2009.
