Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

That was a ****ed up experience dealing with Verizon support in some distant country. I wanted to go to 192.168.1.1 to get stats on my modem. It asked for my user name and password which I assumed was my email user name and password. It wasn't. The person, said "you want to connect wirelessly?". I said "eventually, but at the moment I just want to log on to look at stats. We went through a lot of contortions and she connected my laptop wirelessly which I think I could have done myself. After a lot of song-and-dance, I found out the user name/password was admin/admin. That should have crossed my mind, but ...

One thing I've learned about tech support when it comes to computers: Generally, they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

I should have asked Red Cloud instead. His answer made more sense. ;)

Exactly. Prop 65 and timely contract extensions are prime examples of what I am talking about when it comes to institutional support. Though attendance certainly isn't mandatory, I am happy to see SAJ at games, because it positively reinforces to her the fans connection with the team.

Yes yes yes. Show up and show the flag on occasion, press the flesh and most importantly, help out when the help is needed. The Colonel is the face of the Administration, and reports directly to SAJ. Just like the Defense Secretary reports to the Commander in Chief. The fact that she doesn't show at every game has zero bearing on her level of support for the program.

Nothing at all but if ND does go to HE and they need a 12th team I believe RPI would be on a very short list of potential teams. Outside of UConn and Quinnipiac I see no other school besides RPI to put into the mix. The landscape of college hockey is going to change pretty quick so as far fetched as this seems right now I would not be totally shocked if this opportunity knocks by the 2013-14 season. I already have the vision of Union and Colgate becoming travel partners and RIT taking RPI's spot in the ECAC.;)

johnk and I have had our spats but I agree with this take. However the part about UCONN being a candidate won't happen. Reports on the Atlantic Hockey vote to up scholarship total said that UCONN voted against the proposal so I don't think there serious about upgrading hockey. I'm disappointed because I am an alum of UCONN. It would make sense because the Women's team is in HE. RPI is a natural choice. If we go HE it will help us retain our great coach also. Plus we can drink with Babo in the bars in Boston and she makes an awesome Irish Cream.

FlagDUDE continues to dodge simple yes or no questions.

I think these questions deserve to be answered.

There seems to be a ground swell for FDude to address some questions. First Red Cloud now realet.

BTW - Pat Koudys ripped up the combine. If you go to the following link you will see some of the results on the right hand side of the page, go to drop down arrow to see some of Pat's top ten finishes. He came in second on Hand/Eye Coordination and seventh in the aerobic fitness portion.

I see him moving up the draft board.

Today is 7 June 2011. There are 116 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 1 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is supposedly scheduled.

By the way, the halfway point of RPI's offseason is at 5:30 AM EDT on 6/29/11. That is based on our last game http://collegehockeystats.net/1011/boxes/mndkren1.m26 ending at 3 PM CDT (4 PM EDT) 3/26/11 and our first game starting at 7 PM EDT on 10/1/11. That's only a few weeks away. We lasted past the start of DST last season which simplified the calculation. :)

I wish you could be more exact than that. The game of 3/26/11 did not end precisely at 4PM EDT as I recall.

Heck if I know. I haven't been to an RPI home game myself in a few seasons. If I had to guess, less than 2.

Don't misinterpret what I have said. "Starting to understand its importance to alumni" is not the same thing as saying that she is an avid supporter of the team. During my time at RPI, she only attended a few token, high visibility games a year. This is politics, not fandom.
The only game where people (and SAJ) sat in the new "SkyBox" was the Harvard game which also co-incided with Obama's visit earlier that day to Schen'dty. Although it was pretty funny seeing her leading cheers during the BU game, yes...another hi-profile game. Personally, I could be wrong, I think she is an avid supporter of the team with a dose of politics & fandom. Just an opinion on a summer day.

If the throne is only going to be used for a couple games, then rent it out! Either that, or get some Brown's kegs up there and make it a controlled alcoholic beverage area. I don't know how much NHL skyboxes usually go for per game, but something comparable for college, plus maybe a few extra bucks to have your company's banner hanging there for the evening as an advertisement, would be nice for the Rensselaer Union to get some more revenue.

I'm looking forward to seeing that skybox and the other renovations in person when I head back to campus for the MSU-M and CC games. How disappointing...she should have used her political influence to stop by Schenectady and convince Obama to come to the field house for a game. Seems like an easy sell. "Mr President, welcome to Schenectady, are you ready to leave yet?" :D
