Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

Reminds me of an old saying, "Never try and teach [stubborn animal] to sing....it frustrates you and annoys the [stubborn animal]."

Sounds about right. BTW, much of a Shawshank fan? It is the top of my list.

I prefer "It is better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt."

Another person dispensing advice which he himself does not follow, eh?

I care not what fools think of me.

Yes, you fall into that category. Call me when you have something to add to the conversation.

I care not what fools think of me...[nor anyone else for that matter, apparently].... Call me when you have something to add to the conversation.

No thanks, you are surly and impolite and don't respond well to well-intentioned friendly banter. I have no idea why you are carrying a permanent chip on your shoulder nor why you inflict it on other people who have done nothing to deserve it.

Someone playfully tosses you a balloon and you vindictively pop it and then swell up your chest with pride over your meanness, thinking you've done something clever?

"If your only tool is a hammer then everything looks like a nail", is that it?

Yes I enjoy Shawshank very much. Given the attitude of certain people here, you can probably guess why I chose "Fresh Fish" as the screen name.....

If you want to challenge something I've said, say it, don't change my words, coward.

I respond just fine to actual well-intentioned friendly banter. When it crosses over into idiocy and garbage, I deal with it accordingly. There's no permanent chip, and if you think I've got one, or if those I "inflict it on" have done nothing to deserve it, perhaps you should take a look in the mirror and ask yourself where the real problem lies.

Someone playfully tosses you a balloon and you vindictively pop it and then swell up your chest with pride over your meanness, thinking you've done something clever?

"Playfully tosses me a balloon?" Excuse me? Did you think that quote was aimed at you? My, you're rather self-centered.

"If your only tool is a hammer then everything looks like a nail", is that it?

No, it's not it. You've just got tunnel vision.

That's it, just keep attacking. He who screams the loudest surely must be right.

You're FlagDUDE's saving grace. At least he talks about hockey from time to time, even if he's frequently wrong. You're just here because I'm such a meaniehead, aren't I?

Grow up.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

I see that nothing happened while I was out bike riding this morning. :p

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

I have said it before. I will obviously have to say it again.

I "deal" with two different types of people.

A) Those who continually spout falsehoods and speculate from positions of ignorance.
B) Those who attack me.

Guess which one is FlagDUDE, and guess which one is FreshFish.

Hmm...I've only noticed one 'raised voice' and it wasn't FlagDude, or Supe, or me either.

Well, you're right finally, albeit partially. There was only one 'raised voice' and it wasn't the first two people you mentioned. Sooooo close.

What the hell did I start here......

Yes, there are times in which I am not correct. I present no fear of admitting that whatsoever. Where I am disappointed, though, is when you call me out in such a way as to believing that I believe I am correct. I would like to know when I said on here that I believe I am never wrong, or even when I said that what I said was dogma. I was presenting a hypothesis. Not fact, not fiction, just an idea based upon given facts. Obviously I have a limited number of facts, so the chance of my hypothesis being true is not as good as if I had more facts. I do remember you mentioning that you did not take too kindly to speculation on here, and I am completely willing to respect your beliefs, but I believe that to be the point of a message board. A number of people present a position on a sub-topic, and then debate ensues.

Regarding the hypothesis I did make, it sounds like you may have information that could disprove my hypothesis. Present it, and we move on. No need to create the existence of a DuMass on here.

It's not that you've claimed to be infallible. It's the air with which you speak - an air of certainty expressed through pomposity and lithe comments. If you want to speak like that, you'd better be speaking from knowledge or from at least understanding, or you A) look like a clown and B) really get annoying.

I was presenting a hypothesis. Not fact, not fiction, just an idea based upon given facts. Obviously I have a limited number of facts, so the chance of my hypothesis being true is not as good as if I had more facts.

It should be presented as such, then.

I do remember you mentioning that you did not take too kindly to speculation on here, and I am completely willing to respect your beliefs, but I believe that to be the point of a message board.

False. I do not take kindly to baseless speculation or rampant speculation. If you want to take a guess at something relevant, go right ahead, you are correct that it is the point of a message board. If speculation begins to take over, then there's a problem.

This is much better.

Of course, FreshFisk probably has a problem with what I'm saying.
