Riiiight! And if they didn't win the cup it would be Go Penguins! Whatever!

So disappointed....when you mentioned sarcastic rants earlier, I assumed that you understood sarcasm. I won't make that mistake in the future. It's ok, you can think what you want. I'll just enjoy watching my teams win titles.

See post Colgate series. This is like an IM session.

You or whoever can dig up all the posts you want after the Colgate series. Never wanted him gone. Mentioned he was a tremendous recruiter but felt and still feel there is alot of room for improvement as a bench coach. Without getting in trouble for speculating I wouldn't doubt he feels the same way.

Hnmm...

if "once is philosophy, but twice is perversion," what does that make the last two dozen or so posts???

A splitting headache. And yes, I realize some of that splitting headache was wrought upon myself.

I 100% root for RPI and the people that know me on here can verify it. That being said, ALL of the parents, players and staff from Union that I have met have been nothing but great to deal with both on a business and personal level. I have had RPI season tix since I was a kid. I went to Detroit in 85, Boston in 84 & 85 and Placid everytime they were there. Having a business so close to Union and being from that area has also made me want to see them be successful but not at the expense of RPI. Have you ever seen me post on the Union thread?

You are taking this and me way too seriously. I don't go in the Union thread unless I want to taunt them about the size of their rink and the kid with the flashlight who has to pretend it's a spotlight.

Try my best. Maybe tb and I will call and try to watch 2-7 rounds of NHL Draft w/ you and have an adult beverage.

Too bad the draft is during Field Day, as I will end up missing it. Hopefully good news arises.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

Every day I come home from work check the board and see 3 new pages of posts....about what? Who the heck knows anymore. It must be the offseason. BTW Aspydad we are bestfriends....I didnt get that message on facebook. :) PK will go in the third round early picks. Keep filling up pages guys cause I got some ideas for thread names.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2011 Part II: The Bryce is Right

Not at all. I am at the head of the list of GO, if there is an iota of a chance to bolt to Hockey East. No love for the ECAC at all. Have a good day!

You would have to fight me for that first place in line. Once Hockey East is up to 12 members and RPI has nowhere to turn to escape the ECAC I wonder how long it will be before all we ever hear about with recruiting is the currently never talked about academic index.
For those not around in 85 that was a league rule -read ivy-that in a nut shell made recruiting a player who wasn`t within a very few deviation points of the non athlete with regards to SAT scores both math and verbal a no go at the admissions office. With RPI having so many kids with incredible math scores and thus a sky high index It killed Addessa`s ability to recruit his last few years even with a then newly won NC trophy. It didn`t hurt the ivies as much as they don`t emphasize the math scores as much as RPI. I found it very interesting that after RPI explored leaving the ECAC in 94 that we soon after stopped hearing about the Academic Index. Rumor had it that it was no coincidence.
I also fear SA cut off his nose to spite his face with the public battle with the refs. Hope I am wrong.

Last year, 19 goalies were taken. The 10th one went in approximately the late 5th round.

In 2009, 19 goalies were taken. The 10th one went in approximately the early 5th round.

In 2008, 21 goalies were taken. The 10th one went in approximately the middle of the 4th round.
That's the data mining answer...

The math based answer would be that most NHL teams carry about 22 players with the parent club. 18 skaters, 2 goalies and a couple of healthy scratches to keep everyone from getting too complacent. Based on that, I'd expect to see a goalie selected about every 11th selection or roughly 3 per round. So ignoring other factors, I would have predicted 4th round.

There are other factors to consider though. Among them is that goalies often mature later than skaters and may have longer careers as they are a little less prone to injury. On top of that, there is a certain je ne sais quois about good goalies and trying to predict their ability to play well under pressure is far from science (see Roberto Luongo for a recent pleasant example;)). All of these reasons would tend to make teams less likely to select goalies with their prime picks.

So, without data mining, I would expect a choice no earlier than 4th round. I would also expect the percentage of goalies chosen by round to increase as the draft goes on. So I'll say Kasdorf goes no later than the 6th, probably in the 5th and maybe in the 4th!

Feel free to ignore all of this and go back to your bickering folks!

Off-topic post. :)

The women recruits have been officially announced http://www.rpiathletics.com/news/2011/6/22/WICE_0622110437.aspx. There is a link indicating that they will start charging admission for nonstudents. They can't expect much money from that since I assume parents will get comps as they men's parents do.

I have updated the list below with a few heights that were missing.
