RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

Meh, you still heard my point, even if you believe I'm pulling a Charlatan.

Your incorrect use of fancy looking words does not impress me or anyone else on this board with the possible but unlikely exception of Ralph.

Your perception of me trying to impress other people bears no truth nor justification. I normally spell sabre in the way I have just presented.

Looks like the board isn't locking threads for the time being.

Insert picture of Red Cloud with thumbs up here, now that discussing thread titles isn't necessary.

We'll still want a new thread for the new season. :)

Too bad you weren't talking about sabres.

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

From looking at the USHL season previews, my guess would be Des Moines. Fargo, Lincoln, Sioux City and Sioux Falls have all announced or have returning goaltenders.
Where ever he ends up, Im just glad he'll be spending the year in one of the top junior leagues anywhere. A full season in the USHL should prepare him nicely for the three way battle thats going to happen between the pipes in Troy come next season with Merriam and Diebold.

Re: RPI Off-Season III: Another Helping of Mindless Speculation and Idle Chit Chat

sounds like you wanted to give him a third degree.....

I have a long list (and a long memory) of all those that I would have liked to give the 3rd degree to. The only professor that i truly enjoyed was the well known HARRY F. MEINERS (and his incredible magic show that passed for the weekly Physics lecture). Compared to the rigors of RPI, medical school was a snap. My high school guidance counselor had it right-at rpi even phys ed was hard and there were no easy courses or easy grades.

Are there typically recruits in the system who are scheduled to play in a future season? Doesn't really make sense to me why RPI would put them in the student directory if they weren't going to be here this fall.

They still go through the applicant process in case, for some reason, they need to come in this year (like in the case of Kasdorf and Diebold, but obviously Kasdorf is not listed). It's not early decision, though, so there's nothing saying that they must accept admittance upon receiving notification that they have been admitted. I never worked in the admissions office, so I do not know how the RPI directory corresponds to applications, whether directly or indirectly.

Doc,

I know we've had this discussion before, but for me personally, having gone through 4 years of RPI (including a handful of grad courses) and 3 years of law school, this was not at all the case. I think it seems like times have changed a bit and RPI is simply not as rigorous as it used to be (for whatever reason).

I believe the reason for this is liberal academia in general.

I think the main difference is grade inflation. Even the hockey players make the Dean's list. :D
