I also think Bailen got stiffed because he is a rookie in the league. The York thing is just wrong headed. He is a Hobey candidate.

I suspect that Bailen isn't eligible for RotY.

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

F Dude, the stats used in Sullivan's article were based on the entire season not just ECAC play so I believe your assumption is off base.
He alternated back and forth between overall stats and ECAC only, depending on what was convenient. I think that the only 4 goalies were Ivies at least partially because they've had less of an opportunity to screw up. Although, I definitely agree that Rondeau is having a fantastic year.

Agreed. He's also not Hobey quality. It takes a lot for a D-man to be of Hobey caliber. And, Bailen, especially only in his sophomore year, is not up to that quality, I don't think.

It was just a guess; I don't have a mental connection with Mr. Sullivan, as I've never worked with him on anything.

Its nice that RPI is getting a ton of good press and all this season, but press doesnt equate to wins on the ice. Im sure the team would say the same thing if asked. Press doesnt make you get better each day in practice or during games.

Christ almighty - here we go again....

Huh? Just stating what the team would probably say in the media if asked. I enjoy reading these articles about the team and think its well deserved but taking my cherry colored glasses off and looking at the big picture, they are still a year or two away from being a team that night in and night out I would be willing to say "yep, we will win tonight".

and I would say that if you look at the top 20 that every team there has had some losses, often surprising, against teams they should have beaten (note the multiple threads about Merrymack beating BC 2x this year). Fact is, its seem like everyone is vulnerable on any given night - more so than I have seen in the past. Yes, we need to win games. If we keep up the D and goaltending that we have had and get just an ounce more scoring our record would be off the charts and winning evey game (statistically). Right now, night in and night out, I think that we can win and that there is a general attitude with this team and program that they will. I am still very excited about this year - and from watching the recruits thread and reading articles like the one posted above, I am just about busting out of my skin for he prospects of next years team and beyond. Said differently, if you are a fan and hung up on the individual games / nights rather than where this program is and where its going, you are missing the boat. Please come join the rest of us.

You have been very snarky towards me lately. I wish that Burgie would give you the ettiquette talk about ruining threads

Didn't say he was hobey candidate, said York is on the ballot.

My apologies. I skipped your second sentence and thought that you were still talking about Bailen with regards to the Hobey.
Should call it the freshman of the year then.
Agreed. There aren't rookies in college. There are freshmen, but I never see "Rookie" in any of the game programs.

Thanks B12. Now can you please chastise F Dude for the vitriol towards me. It can ruin the thread and I have feelings :p

Ed Weaver's weekend preview http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/...4d2fcb4208e9e191874035.txt?viewmode=fullstory.

Another Ed Weaver article including a discussion of next year's schedule http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/...4d2fcb8480244045454205.txt?viewmode=fullstory. The RPI tourney has indeed been scrapped :(, really no surprise at this point.

OOC:
Bentley, perhaps in November
MSU-Mankato, two games to open season
@ RIT
Lake Placid, vs. Union
@ Notre Dame, mid-October
@ Ferris, 2 in mid-October
CC, 2 in late October
UConn tourney, UML and Army or UConn, late December

4 single games makes for a lot of travel, and not a lot of bye weeks...

From the article, it sounded like it might be a three-game trip to Ferris and ND. Also, conceivably RIT and Lake Placid are the same weekend.

Well, that would mean that those two series would have to start within 48 hours of each other, to be NCAA compliant. I'm not sure which I'd rather see.

Maybe they'll do a Wednesday game with ND, and then go for a 2-game series with Ferris on Friday/Saturday.

I respectfilly disagree...I don't know what Bailen "doesn't" do that would not make him Hobey worthy at least in the initial go around !!!!!!!!!!!!
