I don't think I saw this posted yet - the first phase of fan voting for the Hobey Baker Award is open, with York and Polacek as candidates from RPI. You can vote once every 24 hours, so vote early and often. :)

Who's Denny Urban, and who the heck from Robert Morris is stuffing the ballot box?

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

Denny Urban is a senior defenseman, 5' 10" and 170 pounds. He is having a career year offensively, with 7 goals and 19 assists for 26 points in 21 games. In Atlantic Hockey conference games, he has 4 goals and 15 assists in 13 games for 19 points. The next highest scoring defenseman in the league has 12. So he's having a pretty decent season.

He is also a hometown boy from Pittsburgh. I guess the people stuffing the NHL All-Star Game ballot box with the names of various Penguins found another box to stuff. ;)

O'Grady is questionable, but York is "OK" http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2011/01/13/sports/doc4d2e4050457d5057545684.txt.

An article about Tyler Helfrich http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2011/01/13/sports/doc4d2e4050457d5057545684.txt. It also includes a video-interview with Allen York which probably should have been attached to the other article.

It will be good to have York back at 100%. It is amazing that he could keep his goals against down at 3 for the games that he was not feeling his best.
He gives us a chance to win every game he is in the nets. Even when he is not totally healthy.

Try this for the Helfrich story: http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/...4d2e77031c678738767986.txt?viewmode=fullstory

Re: RPI MMXI III: Overanalyzing The Iron Men and Other Uses of Internet Bandwidth

why only 2 goalies?

a little early to judgement for best rookie, eh?

Probably the criteria was ECAC winning record, and because we're 4-4 in the league, we weren't considered.

F Dude, the stats used in Sullivan's article were based on the entire season not just ECAC play so I believe your assumption is off base.

I also think Bailen got stiffed because he is a rookie in the league. The York thing is just wrong headed. He is a Hobey candidate.
